Sorry but Dumbo and Bambi should've been swapped. Dumbo's separation from his mom is needlessly cruel and unjust, while also being cruel in it's clinging to hope. The driving force of Dumbo is hope and the trials that frustrate him are what make the story more sad.
The death of bambi's mom is cruel but it's also reflective of nature itself, whether it was a hunter or some predator, like in The Land before Time. The immediate next scene is the most hilarious moment of tonal whiplash with tra la lala spring to show that death happens and nature just keeps going, which admittedly is a good less to teach. Death happens and while grieving is good and normal, to obsess is not healthy, or natural. Bambi has a sense of finality and closure that Dumbo does not. (Even The Lion King teaches better about Death, grieving but also MOVING ON.

no, THE LION KING doesn't have it over BAMBI, just by being longer on a bigger scale with starrier names/voices.
BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA always worries me with the ending of two children having the same fantasy - I worry they'll turn out like the girls in HEAVENLY CREATURES.
THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME makes me cry because of what it does to its source materiel, including banal alteration of the nature of key characters; Hugo had a better idea of what was properly sad as well as tragic (including Phoebus getting married)

These are really the saddest movies, in my top is: The Lion King (Mufasa's death always breaks my heart, and even more when Simba desperately tries to wake him up, Brigde to Terabithia (I didn't see that blow of reality coming: that Leslie died, I didn't want to believe it, she was so fantastic, Bambi, Dumbo, Frozen, Encanto an the Fox and the Hound (It saddens me that after Todd and Copper's friendship broke up, but then they reconciled)

The Lion King is definitely a tear jerker it s always heartbreaking to see Mufasa die and Simba thinking it s his fault so I can why it s number one. Also why is Coco not on the list or at least in the honarable mentions that s whole emotional roller coaster of a movie the scenes were Hector and Miguel are singing to Coco always make me cry so think it deserved to be on the list even though it s a Pixer movie.

The one that make me cry is Aladdin because of Robin Williams every time I watch that movie it makes me cry because we won't see or hear his voice as the genie again along with Gilbert Gotfried as Iago another one that's a gut hurting one is Monsters Inc when Sully has to say goodbye to Boo that's another one that make me water up a little bit that's a really sad scene for a Disney movie.

Other movies I consider heartwarming would be.
- Pinocchio (1940): Aside of the terrifying moments, there's also a bittersweet and inspiring essence about never give up despite the adversity, and the end feels so worthy.
- Homeward Bound (1993): Despite the similarities with the 1963 version, it seems that the producers tried to make even more engaging, specially, again, at the end.

Since I can remember, my Mom would sing 'Baby Mine' to me. To calm me, to put me to sleep and even to walk down the aisle the day I got married. I'm 55 now & lost my Mom in 2020. You never stop wanting your Mom & every time I hear that song, I'm reduced to a watery blob for both sad & happy reasons. I love you & miss you, Mom

The Rescuers is one that will always make people cry. The movie's plot is about a little girl being held hostage by a greedy pawnshop owner and her only hope is two mice. It's even more heartbreaking when you hear Medusa tell her victim little Penny What makes you think anyone would want a homely little girl like you?

Yet another Disney list that left out the underrated masterpiece that is Treasure Planet for obvious and biased reasons. Do moments such as Jim Hawkins' flashbacks during the montage song I'm Still Here, the ending, and especially John Silver's Makings of Greatness speech never make you shed a tear?

Brother Bear's no way out song is a terrible song, but the darkness and emotional impact, and the death of a parent in brother bear, is the kind of stuff Disney can learn from nowadays. If Disney needs to be able to compete with DreamWorks in the modern era, they need to get dark.

I can always count on Dumbo to make me emotional, the most in fact. On top of the ordeals that Dumbo goes through like being torn away from his mother and being ridiculed for his wing-like ears, the Baby Mine scene really gets the waterworks going for me.

It goes without saying that The Fox and the Hound is just one big emotional rollercoaster of a film, I swear there's also not a single moment in that movie that doesn't make me turn on the water works one way or another.

I think Coco should have been on the list (or at least have been on the honorable mention list. The scene where Miguel and his great grandmother sing Remember Me together never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

I recently watched Oliver and Company, and I think the scene where Oliver got taken away by dodger and his crew was a real sad moment, and i especially hated the part when Dodger yelled at Tito! HOW DARE HE!

The Lion King always gets the waterworks going because of Mufasa s death. Absolutely no one saw it coming and just seeing Simba s reaction just hits me like a truck.

The bittersweet way The Fox and the Hound ends is pretty mature for a Disney film and very emotional, same goes for the part where Todd is released into the wild.
