to me the jungle book is the best/only actually good one as i absolutely loved all the characters(especially the wolves being characters compared to being a framing device that in every disney version after vanishes forgetting they were mowgli's family/why he didn't want to leave the jungle, mixing the disney one with the original stories(the law of the jungle, the elephants importance, shere khan being a bully/trying to take over the wolves, kaa helping baloo & bagheera save mowgli from the monkey's in concept art and the mancub not immediately going to the man village at the end) feeling more like the true lion king than 2019 and being so charming that i really do want to see a sequel as there's a lot from the book's(red dog's/ancient treasure guarded by the cobra which jungle cubs did a bit, protecting mowgli's human family from buldeo) they could make a sequel of.
cindrella outside how the main character was handled(would completely take the original over & twist in time for the prince)/found the sisters forgettable did like how tremaine was handled.
beauty and the beast just opened more plot holes that make the original feel even more messed up in hindsight.
tbh wouldn't personally say chip n dale worked as it wasn't a good chip n dale reboot/badly handled the other rangers, soulless compared to roger rabbit with the crossover element feeling random, really bad shading when it wasn't 2d and a very hypocritically mean dig to peter pan's voice actor(that would've instead made more sense if it was pluto, donald or even bonkers with how he gets forgotten as a roger rabbit clone)the only good thing of it was actually making sonic the hedgehog's 1st movie design surprisingly awesome in a cool salvage/darkwing duck at the end as i agree i'm for him getting a full reboot next.
peter pan and wendy was alongside pinocchio just stop with the remakes alreadypersonified especially with how many adaptations we have of this.
cruella i think works more if it's someone inspired by her not being the horrible person she is later on.

Almost made it: Aladdin. While the movie went a long way to fix a lot of things culturally and visually wrong with the original, as well as flesh out a few characters, it fell flat on delivery with some acting choices. Will Smith is a great Genie because he put his own take on it rather than trying to be Robin Williams, however the song Friend Like Me was not reworked to suit his voice. Mena Massoud certainly looked the part of Aladdin, but lacked expressionor acting experience. Marwan Kenzari was also great at fleshing out Jafar, but the movie seemed to want to nerf him at every turn, and he seems lacking without Gilbert Gottfried playing the now bland Iago.
Failed: Lady and the Tramp. This seemed like a huge effort just to erase the racism of the Siamese cats as well as some of the emotional hardships Lady was meant to endure, and Tramp is not charming in the slightest. It felt like it was trying to hard to deliver without knowing what it was it wanted to deliver. But the outro song That’s Enough gets points, as it is really suited to this film.
Epic fail: Maleficent. The only reason I didn’t want to walk out on this travesty is because ai paid gold class tickets for it, and those are pricey. This movie took a character who’s name literally means something or someone evil and malicious and made her into a whimp. Every character is butchered beyond belief and you know every actor on the roster can do better. If it had been told from the perspective of evil Maleficent from the start, it would have been far more interesting. Cruella is an excellent example of what this movie should have done, and I refuse outrightly to watch the sequel. Angelina looked and sounded the part, but the script and story and just the worst. I grew up loving Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty is my favourite Disney movie, but this remake can go burn in a hole.

I honestly thought I heard a TON of praise for Beauty and the Beast, tbh. Or maybe most of the comments were about a gay man in a scene. Idk. Maybe it was Cinderella. xD I'm not interested in either one (not fond of most romantic fairy tale trope stories) so I don't know.
Personally, I feel like Mulan should've been up in the killed list. They totally removed everything about the animated movie that made it great; The fun songs, MUSHU. And Mulan was just a perfect hero stereotype that didn't really have to work to get where she was - she was already in the know of everything. Even the villain was less memorable, and I can't even recall if it was Shan Yu or if they changed that up too! I was so bored I didn't even really bother with much of it. :/

The live-action beauty and the beast and Dumbo is pretty good. cause they have a song in the live-action beauty and the beast by a great artist celine Dion: How does a moment last forever. and the live-action Dumbo, the ringmaster isn't evil. and the live-action the lion king was pretty good too, now come on, tell me that Seth Rogen didn't do a great job playing the voice of Pumbaa. Also they add extra lines that weren't in the animation version, like the line that adult Nala says to Scar about looking into Mufasa's eyes, how many live-action films where you hear extra lines in movies that don't hear in the animation ones. You have to give them credit.

Beauty & The Beast was a great movie to me! I liked the extra things they added to the story, with the exception that you can’t really replace Angela Lansbury as Ms. Potts.
What movie scarred me hard The live action Aladdin! That one was horrible! Aladdin was such a bland character, Jasmine’s women’s right schtick got more annoying than strong the more it was used, Jafar really didn’t have the same intense vibe as the 1992’s version (plus adding that backstory they made didn’t help at all, and Geniewell, you can’t change perfection, and Will Smith slapped Robin William’s version like he slapped Chris Rock. It ruined the character!

Beauty and the Beast animated version is definitely better, to me it's a more convincing love story, in the life action, the scenes are changed, there I darkness.
Cruelly is fantastic, great cast, great back story to how Ella became Cruella, great costume s, Cinderella is jo doubt my Favourite of them all, great cast, great costumes, love the way we see more of the Prince in the film and the development of their relationship rather than just thrown together,
Pinochio very boring
The jungle book- fantastic film, love the story, very realistic
Lion King- many changes that wasn't needed, not enjoyable

Cruella worked. Cinderella worked. The Jungle Book worked. I haven't seen the Chip and Dale movie or Pete's Dragon, animated or live action. Now I can add them to my list. I also enjoyed Maleficent; like th aforementioned, based on source material and still did its own twist and made it its own instead if copying it. Peter Pan and Wendy was unnecessary, felt like they were trying too hard; I didn't even watch it; the 2003 live action with Jeremy Sumpter was already perfect. Lion King, my biggest complaint is the casting of Beyonce as Nala; monotone the entire time.

Seriously you guys thought the live action of Beauty and the Beast was bad I loved it! I’m not a fan of the original and I’m a Gen Xer. I thought it was well cast and the additional information they added made the script that much better. I mean I thought it was a major plot hole that there was a castle and a prince in a town that they suddenly forgot about. The live action fixed this. I was shocked at your #1 pick. I was a huge Chip&Dale fan as a kid so I’ll definitely check this out because I didn’t know it even existed.

I can already tell Snow White which will now be released next year is gonna suck.
That remake was met with far too much conversationly from casting a dark skinned actress namely Rachel Zegler as the titular character to causing people with dwarfism to be offended about casting dwarfs as actual dwarfs though it is turns out the dwarfs will be based on the original film. And the fact Rachel has hinted her character will not be awoken by a prince.
Though unlikely, I wouldn't put it past me if they bin the film.

I will say, something that annoyed me in the live action Cinderella is how she can leave but choses not to because it's her parent's house. She leaves in the end though, so why put herself through that In the original, they very clearly say she was abused after her father died when she was a child. She was a trapped and invisible servant with no outside contact or help. I hate that they made her more independent because Cinderella's bravery and strength is in her softness and kindness in the face of such cruelty.

Cinderella is the best remake in my opinion. It has the charm that the original had and somenthing else. Cate Blanchett did a phenomenal performance and Lily James and Richard Madden look so good together. And even if it wasn't even worthy of being mentioned, I loved the Aladdin remake. Obviously the voice acting performance that Robin Williams did is one of the best in animated history and nobody was gona be as good as he was, but I really liked the movie, Naomi Scott was great as Princess Jasmine

So glad that the one that was considering the worst for killing the legacy was The Lion King. Sure, I couldn't finish the live action Pinocchio, but as an adult, I don't think I could finish the cartoon one anymore either. The animated Lion King I can always finish (if I'm not too busy crying, that is) but the moment I heard how it absolutely DESTROYED the BEST VILLIAN SONG OF ALL TIME I was done. I was out. It went off and I will never put it on again in my house.

I honestly don’t think Disney should remake any of their projects. I think if they’re going to do a live action adaptation of a previously animated movie, they should at least tell a story that hasn’t already been told. Movies like Maleficent & the sequel, Christopher Robin, Cruella, Dumbo, and Alice In Wonderland all are stories that have been presented in a way that doesn’t seem like a copy of the previous versions. All the others are just a waste of time

The only live-action Disney adaptations I ever really liked are The Jungle Book and Christopher Robin. I wish Julie Taymor directed the 2019 movie remake of The Lion King and have all the songs from both the original animated film and the Broadway musical. I would've loved Beyonce to have sung Shadowland. And fix up other problems like the CGI facial expressions. Then it would have been just as of a masterpiece like the animated movie and the Broadway musical!

Cinderella (2015) is my favorite live-action Disney film! Lily James and Richard Madden made such a wonderful Cinderella and Prince Charming (Kit, and I enjoyed the increased focus on Cinderella herself and less on the talking animals, as well as Prince Charming (Kit) having more depth and a personality, as well! It's one of the few live-action Disney remakes that I think stands out on its own from the Disney original animated adaptation!

Cinderella and Cruella definitely worked. I disagree with you about Beauty and the Beast and Dumbo, I loved those two. I would also say that Little Mermaid worked. One remake that didn’t work was The Lion King, because there are no humans in that movie, so it was basically more of a CGI remake. If you’d ask me, the Disney animated movies that don’t need live-action adaptations are the ones that don’t feature any humans.

I absolutely love the concept of the remakes but whilst some worked really well (Cinderella, Little Mermaid and Jungle Book) others fell short of the mark (Lion King, Beauty and The Beast. I haven’t watched them all but these are just some. Cruella worked due to it being more of an origin story as opposed to a remake, same as Maleficent. I will be very interested to see how they’ll make Mufasa work due to Lion King bombing.

I HATED the Pete’s Dragon remake. It was a completely different story. The whole point was Elliot saving Pete from his abusive adoptive parents. It was turned into a cross of the Jungle Book. I loved the soundtrack so much to the original, and still have it on my soundtrack playlist. It was not reimagined, it was a different story. I’m in my 40’s and have always stated my favorite movie is Pete’s Dragon.

I've always been a huge fan of the 1967 animated version of The Jungle Book, however I preferred the 2016 live action for lots of reasons, in particolar the main character Mowgli that transits from a whiny child that needs to be saved to an ingenious brave boy that in the end faces Shere Khan on his own. Well-deserved Oscar for special effects (the animals were more expressive than the ones in The Lion King.
