I dont get how you can say this is the best soundtrack ever. I can think of a few games that do this already and with great effect, just because you notice they are paralleling music with the storyline doesn't make it great. Also i think that adding things like xlylophones to make it seem childish is a really obvious and rather clumsy way to portray that emotion and a pretty bad one to pick up on when you totally gloss over (and play in the video) the games take on O Fortuna in the soundtrack. THAT was a good point. I think youre reasoning is pretty juvenile, if you want to comment on music within a game and call it the greatest of all time - do some more research and delve a little deeper, i know its a 3 minute video and all, but doing a 3 minute video on this is pretty offensive and discounting to the people who make music within video games seeing as you do hours of content on graphics and vaulting in pubg.

I really liked this video (and the game is also great, but it's one of my pet peeves so I feel the need to point out that the instrument in the amusement park is not a xylophone (a xylo is wood or fiberglass, not metal. It's actually probably a set of crotales, which if you've never seen them you should check them out because they're cool and used to a really cool effect in this piece. Great video, though

I don't know yet and I'm very conflicted. But I do too believe that automata may as well be the greatest game of all time. Even the greatest piece of art in entertainment. I may be completely wrong. But I don't think anything can match it. The feelings you get after finishing it are genuine and one of a kind. I don't even want to compare this game with anything

aight, i want a list of best game soundtracks from this guy. not saying which one is on top of the rest, but just a couple best soundtracks.
im hoping he does not only rate the soundtracks by how well they fit in a game, but also how nice it is to listen to it without playing the game at all.
(cuphead is perfect on both things)

Androids are made by humans.
Machines (the enemy robots) are made by aliens.
Little do they know, they-re creators have been extinct for centuries now- and it took them that long just to gain a glimpse of humanity. And when they do witness it, they grow so quickly.

Y'know a few other games with some of the best soundtracks, too?
Ori and the Blind Forest
Dust: An Elysian Tail
Undertale
A Hat In Time
To The Moon
How? Because you can feel the love, heart, and soul of a lot of these successful indie titles

Till this day, there isn't a game that comes close. Sure, Streets of Rage 2 had a banging soundtrack but this one had catchy, happy, sad and plain depressing at times music. The title of -Best Soundtrack Ever- still stands 2nd quarter 2019.

Here I am, several years later and still listening to this God tier OST. That's how I personally measure how good a Soundtrack/song is.
There's something magical about it that keeps me coming back to it, strong emotional attachment.

That wasn-t a xylophone playing. That was a glockenspiel, more commonly known as a bell set. I-m sorry, but as a percussionist myself, I-m legally required to correct anything wrong that someone says about percussion instruments.

I really hope the next NieR will focus on Devola and Popola as the Main Characters. It would also feature a lot of -Song of the Ancients-, what I consider the indirect Main Theme of the Series.

This is the best score for visual media since Lord of the Rings IMO. One of the most perfect and beautiful scores I-ve ever heard. I would pay good money for a complete orchestral book.

This video does a better job of explaining the appeal of Nier: Automata in 3 minutes than several 20-30 minute videos I have seen. And I've seen many, MANY videos about Nier: Automata.

Was the game just spoiled for me at the ending of this video? I know there's multiple endings. Is it still worth playing since I know what's going to happen? (thanks, polygon)

I still hold Fez in the highest ranking for its soundtrack. In comparison, Nier seems par for the course in games that were influenced by Shadow of the Colossus.

I very much did not enjoy this game. I thought it was overhyped and boring. Maybe even -dull and lifeless-. #4 is way too high. I wouldn't even have it on my list.

Why is the soundtrack the only thing people are actually pointing out about this game? Like theres so much more to it than just its OST.

I dunno man. Xenoblade Chronicles is one hell of a contender.
I agree but that's a debate for the ages.
