Join us for a whirlwind tour of October 2017, capped off by an only slightly predictable finale. Games discussed: Assassin-s Creed Origins, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, Middle Earth: Shadow of War, The Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, Super Mario Odyssey. We're curious how you keep up with the news. If you can spare a few minutes, help us out by taking our survey

For Assassins Creed Origins I-ve played and completely the whole game and I have to say overall the game is great but. they have some work to do. Justin brought up some good problems especially when he talked about stealth and combat and I would have to agree but I didn-t agree with is comments on the side quests. My problem with the side quests isn-t what you have to do but more on its fluidity. I really enjoy the missions but they are sometimes a little to random. You can have a side quest after you finished the main quest in the area but the side missions don-t recognize that it-s done. Like you can kill a tyrant that has been taxing farmers to much and the side quest is fighting his men that he is sending to stop you but he-s already dead. That was my problem with it. Now I love this game I believe it-s a good game to bring back the series from it-s broken past.

With the ongoing transition to digital sales the used game issue is much less relevant than it was a few years ago. Griffin's right, those are two separate conversations.
At this point the trend of grindy RPG systems in action games is easy enough to explain by the fact that consumers respond well to them. Destiny 2 is grindy and progression-based because that's how the first game was and it was hugely successful, not as some cynical marketing ploy (or at least not any more than those same elements in Diablo 3 are a cynical marketing ploy. That grindy RPG systems lend themselves well to micro-monetization is a nice convenience but it's two separate trends and neither have very much to do with the increasingly irrelevant specter of used game sales.

I just want to say how much I love Besties. It's one of the few recurring pieces of content out there that I eagerly anticipate. Most TV shows -shrug- meh. I'll catch the episodes eventually. Most podcasts are cool but I can take a break from them now and then and it's no big. Besties though. every month I'm like, -When's Besties coming out? It came out this day last month, that means it's late this month? I need my Besties! - My point is, that's a rare thing for me these days and I want you all to know how much I appreciate that you can make something I enjoy and crave so much.

The flicking mechanic was honestly one of my least favorite elements of the new Mario. That bird got me killed so many times. he had a tendency to do a weird twist and point his beak in the wrong direction very frequently. And there was no feedback when he releases from something, so sometimes I would get knocked off a wall and not realize it until I've already fallen too far to recover. Really sucked for me. It might just be something weird with how I play the game, but I didn't have any problem with the controls at any other point in the game.

Alrighty I've gotta disagree with a lot of stuff these boys have said about Shadow of War. Like, you can totally do a Fortress Assault on your own! And LIVE! I've done it! On Nemesis difficulty! And the uhhhhh. The Overlord fights, you can get high ground. And you CAN get AOE attacks.

felt like griffin was like, overwhelmingly negative this episode in a way that was actually super dismaying. theres a habit of video game podcast listeners always complaining about host negativity and i'm usually not sympathetic to that but this episode was like. woof

I super disagree with Justin on being easier to spot in AC. I feel like the guards are really dumb and it's super easy to sneak up on them. Maybe because I've skipped the last couple games, but I feel a bit taken out of it by how easy it is to sneak.

Here are the best games of the month! And this is why we hated them! I mean come on guys you just ripped on a bunch of games for the hour. Every game was ten mins of why it's terrible but oh ya the story was fun or you could cut a guy in half.

Can I just say I click on this show every month just to hear the theme song. Then I end up listening to/enjoying the whole thing. But it starts with that song. It's just so damn catchy.

-more like the worsties- comments are hilarious though, like 'how dare they have opinions on their show! '

You can play with the motion controls easily in any control setup. Yes, using motion controls in portable is super no big deal.

doesnt the fact PUBG is still in early access disqualify it from being on the list of best? since its not actually released?
