Lets be frank here.
The whole story packed into Far Cry 5 is a raw reinterpretation of Bioshock 1. Even the cognition programming is in there, the Adam, damn i mean Bliss, is in there, you have some sort of Doomsday cult packed into a closed off area etc.
It more or less isnt that original at all and even worse, they are too clear about it so that there is no surprise and i knew at any time what will happen, even what the endings will be and how they look, from the very beginning.
Far Cry 5 was just not at all interesting in terms of its story, which then has it only being carried by relatively bad gunplay and driving, including a laughable selection of guns to use.
Far Cry 5 isnt incredibly bad, but its such a missed opportunity, especially considering how blank the faction warfare goes and what a potential they have at hand there.
The overarching story then feels like a copied let down, just a C-Movie china reimagination of that Blockbuster you know.
Not terrible, but not really good either and when broken down to what it offers, you will find that there is plenty of stuff out there that delivers the same, just better, including the same Franchise, as older Far Cry Games def. had better missions, story and premise.
The worst probably was the so foreseeable thing Jacob did in his area but even though you know you shouldnt shoot those people in your killfrenzy, even running through, you have to make it stop.
The same is for all the forced interactions between you and the area bosses.
No way to avoid being captured even though you are clearly OP compared to the so called hunters or chosen ones.
Thats trying to drive a story artificially. Which is a cheap way to make a story.

Here's a problem I think a lot of game writers are having, especially recently.
A film can lead to a macabre/upsetting ending because the story is playing out on its own and you're simply being taken for the ride. As a storyteller, you can't use that same philosophy when writing a video game ending.
As far as the player is concerned, every action they take, every enemy they kill, every region they liberate is important, and will eventually culminate into a finale they have earned. That's exactly where you want a player to be; feeling like their actions have weight in the story you've created.
Having an ending that nullifies every effort you have made due to circumstances completely out of your control is not a good ending. Thanks to the added context of these endings, the motivation to complete any of the game's objectives in subsequent playthroughs is dulled. If I know that every accomplishment I've made will ultimately be pointless, I have literally no interest.
What's worse, I will most likely have little motivation while playing further entries in the series, if (given the Far Cry track record) I know they will have unsatisfactory endings as well.

Since the -walk away- ending is a cliffhanger but considered a -good ending-, I'll make it a real optimistic ending for you, when Father Joseph set them free, the Sheriff said they'll be sending national guards in the area to rescue the people and annihilate the cult, but when the song -Only You- played and the Deputy got mad, she attacked the Sheriff but c'mon let's do ourselves a favor by not being negative, there are two other trained police officer in the car so they managed to apprehend her, they figured out it was the song so they turned it off and the Dep.
returned to her sanity, they continued to their trip until they reached police hq, told everyone what happened, their superiors got curious and want to see it for themselves but this time, they're rolling with the entire cavalry with them and there, good ending.

Regardless of ending, the collapse always happens, unless you believe that the different seals of the prophecy needs to fulfilled in order for the collapse to happen.
If that's the case then walking away prevents the collapse. Also, the deaths of John, Jacob and Faith are also part of the prophecy, so in order for the collapse to happen, they all have to die, something which Joseph clearly knew. Strange that he's mad at Rook for doing god's will. If anything, Joseph should've been angry with god.
The sequel, New Dawn, takes place in Hope County after the collapse, so either its after the bad ending or the collapse happens regardless of ending in Far Cry 5. If Far Cry 6 takes place after Far Cry 5 and the collapse didn't happen, then we know that the prophecy wasn't fulfilled in that timeline.

There is no -good ending- (good as in happy.
When you take the -walk away- ending, after the end credits the game makes you do the last mission again so you can do the -resist- option. Only then, after the end credits, does it give you the option to start the campaign again with your perks and continue playing other missions.
I think the whole nuclear bombs thing was interesting, because they seeded the idea of a nuclear threat at various parts of the game on the radio station. Story wise, it's pretty thrilling but still sad that there is no happy ending no matter what you do.

Was there anyone else who was just really freaked out by the good ending? Like how realistic it was, the impending sense of doom with the nukes in the distance, and Joseph just creepily staring at you? And then to make it worse the last sibling I killed was Jacob, with that creepy warped rendition of -Only You- that would echo around while you fight him. Say what you want about this ending but it was one of the first things I-ve seen in a long time that actually disturbed me

I like how it ends with -omg! He was right all along! What have I done! - Even though Joseph and his followers were manipulators, tyrants, and murderers. Erasing minds to mush, Fileying, burning, torturing, among many other horrors. Sure there were a lot of bad people fighting the cult too, but many were innocent and well meaning citizens. Joseph even goes into detail about how he killed his infant child. I'd rather die than live the lives these people did

I just finished Far Cry 5 and wow, I thought it'd be another generic ending where we go to the antagonist's hideout, have a gun battle, some dramatic words are spoken, and we kill him. Seeing the nukes go off, and then for Joseph to actually kidnap you and even win in the end was fantastic. Seeing the antagonist win was just a really unexpected thing and it was actually pretty awesome to see.
Joseph was creepy as hell.

Just finished the game - great ending. I realize now why people love Marvel movies - the ending is predictable & the good guy defeats all the villains and the world can rest.
People like a happy ending and they want predictability. For me, I love it when a game breaks tropes and tries something new - even if that means a bitter or bittersweet ending. I applaud Ubisoft for this, it's a very brave ending.

That first ending, as soon as Joseph said 'It's best to leave well enough alone. ', the Sheriff got absolutely spooked. He knew Joseph could hear everything they talked about in that chopper, and his people were miles ahead of them. I don't think the 'bad' ending was cryptic at all. Every time you heard 'Only you', you killed everyone in your path to 'free' yourself. It was no different this time.

Why in Far Cry 4 and 5 did they release 2 of the most likeable main bosses (Pagan more than Joseph) but if you think about it if you shoot Kyrat instantly your killing him in cold blood as he didn't commit any serious crimes like Joseph so in a way he's like Jakal in FC2 who can be forgiven as he was really fighting for the greater good as the war rose on for many years past and present

I knew something was wrong with rook since the beginning
Y'know, to make this story better (for me) I always thinking that when he shooting the bad guys I thinking that his eyes turn yellow. Then when he is mad/hypnotized mode im thinking that his eyes turn red. Then when he is really serious the other is yellow while the other is red: -) btw I love the 'good ending'

This is absolute trash. Real nice way to make a David Coresh wannabe invincible. Ubisoft hyping a child molester as invincible. The entire team deserves to rot in hell. Biggest waste of money ever in my life. I hope they all get herpes and die slowly! Absolute trash of a game. No matter what you do you lose. Great idea real original.

Im almost sure the, world end - resist- ending is hallucination because when you enter again the game all is ok and Jouseph is out and all others.
Also the, go away'' ending is the bad one really because the radio signs, only you'' that means you will kill all in the truck so you alredy loose.

I mean yeah 1 nuke. but to rain fire like that to montana AND the whole country. man. exaggerating much? Raising more questions with an end game like never before to prove a point.
Meh, Tasteless. Prefer to see my character die than to such an escalated ending.

I think the Bad Ending should've had a spin off like New Dawn
So The Sheriff and the Deputy's managed to make it out of Hope County then they alert the National Guard then you play as a Soldier or a Sargent and you try and take down the Cult once and for all

this is litteraly happening in france right now; 300 right wing people were caught plotting a coup armed. they were plotting to take the control of France by force and violence. Just so their idea of what hey believe what France is gets fullfilled. I am scared

I've never played a game where I started out having fun, but ended up hating it so much. I hated how you have to get kidnapped to progress the story. And then you end up in a different section of the map.

You can hear the rockets flying in the sky. I like this little detail, didn't notice this in my first playthrough.
This means whatever ending you choose, the world gets nuked. Scary-

In the -walk away- you had off the music from the settings. so people didn't realize what happened. I am wondering if you yourself, realized what happened.
-Great joke though.
