Cat With Asthma Has The Most Caring Dad My cat almost died this wknd. He was diagnosed with asthma but they wouldn’t give him any asthma med until I’d take him to get his heart checked. Heart Dr appt took two months and then I called my vet and to schedule an appt for the asthma inhaler. They didn’t have appts for two months. So I waited patiently and worried as heck and he had a very bad asthma attack which he ended up with broken ribs. I took him to 24 hr ER vet and they couldn’t see him because they didn’t have enough vets. So they referred me to someone 1. 5 hrs away. It was sooo frustrating to see my kitty fade away he finally got seen by the vet and 2 puffs of albuterol inhaler and he was started to breathe better. It’s totally bizarre that the vets would see my cat almost dying and send me away because they were under staffed.

All through high school our family had several cats and one incredible Golden Retriever, named Copper of course. All the neighborhood kids loved this dog and would always want to borrow him for the day. When Copper finally died at age 15 I was so crushed with grief I couldn't function for days and have never fully recovered, but did have a series of cats over the years who were just as precious to me. Any time I would see someone mistreating an animal of course I would assault them with such verbal fury that they never came near me afterwards, and hope that at least they got the message.
What goes on in many parts of the world today is still incredibly sickening, but now we have PETA which has been helping improve the situation for the last few decades, so please consider helping them out!

My cat recently was diagnosed with asthma and she already was a bit overweight. I didn't think nor was it explained to me that getting her weight under control would obviously tax her lungs less. Also she definitely seems to want food more. A lot my experience is clicking with what you said, thank you for making me aware of these patterns! I'm curious what equipment you have for your inhaler It looks like there was a piece that moved with breathes Would you mind sharing Mine is very basic with no moving parts and I've been wondering if she is actually inhaling all of it. Thank you!

I never knew cats could have asthma, I didn't know the symptoms until one night my 2nd cat's breathing was very Not Okay and took her to the emergency immediately. She's been on the inhaler it's been 2 months now. Training her to accept the inhaler took a while but it's worth being patient! Treats definitely helped her get used to it. She's also naturally active so she won't have any weight gain issues. After I give my cat her treatment, we cuddle a lot so she's a happy camper This gentleman is very sweet with his cat and I love seeing the bond they share!

I feel this so much. one of our cats has asthma aswell and needs to inhale twice a day. I am scared he'll gain weight like Liam did. at least his caughing got a little bit better since we've moved over to an inhaler with steroids. Prior to that we'd use the non-steroid one that you can get without a prescription. At first it helped, but it got worse and worse, until we had to inhale 3-4 times a day and he'd often start caughing hours after inhalation again. Now, with the steroids, he's doing ok. I just hope it lasts.

Our Blue Point Siamese Jesse was just diagnosed with asthma. We rescued him when he was only 4 weeks old and now he will be 4 years in April. Upon diagnosis of the asthma a few months ago our vet gave Jesse a cortisone shot which caused pancreatitis. That was terrifying thankfully with antibiotics he got through it and started to be back to normal. But recently the asthma coughing is coming back. I'm terrified of anything cortisone. I'm that crazy fur mom! Anyone else experience anything like our story

we are going through this with our beloved Lillehammer. She scared us so much, we took her to the emergency vet (it was the weekend, and she takes her inhaler so well! She is super close to my husband, his baby. While we have to hold down our senior cat, Moxie, to take her thyroid medication, Lille is a dream, she seems to know it is good for her and my friend who is a pediatrician uses photos of Lille using her inhaler to encourage her patients with Asthma!

This video came across my homepage, my cat also have coughing problems, we do several test on her and right now the doctor want us to try on medication first for a month. I hope that this will help her and she showing good progress so she don’t need to be in inhaler. And one of my pups got diagnosed of seizure in his dna, and he need to be in medication 3 times a day. We love our babies so much, they mean the world for us, we just want the best for them!

Our cat has had asthma for a long time. Nothing helped until we tried prednisolone. Helped with inflammation. He went from many cough attacks per day to just one or 2. We slowly waned him off it.
What we currently love and has helped the most is a food from the vet. It's soft food in small cans called c/d (which prevents urinary tract issues) but also helps with stress. The chicken stew one with rice and veggies.
Good luck

We have two bengals, a father and son. The father has this same severe asthma, but we do not medicate him. They exercise together as only two bengals can: by wrestling and sprinting after each other multiple times a day. He takes no medication due to all the side effects and he rarely has attacks. Plus, he would never tolerate an inhaler. Meds are not always needed

Mine really hates hers how do I get her used to it. She was a wild cat I took in so she's really skittish but she loves pets so once we finish it I hold her and pet her for a bit after but she really hates it. Tips for her would be appreciated I just got her diagnosis yesterday. I love her and my other cat Ren so much I'd do anything for them.

My cat Yuki was just diagnosed with what the vet said was the worst case of asthma she's ever seen. He was put on steroids but I'm not seeing a huge difference- every breath he takes is labored and it breaks my heart.
I mentioned an inhaler to the vet and she said there wasn't such a thing for cats, strangely. So thank you for this video!

If your cat is doing this just take them to the vet. It may not be asthma. My cat was doing this EXACT same thing. Only to take them to the vet and find out it wasn't asthma. Was given AntiBiotics called, Azithromycin for oral suspension USP 200mg per 5ml. After a few doses my cat stopped doing this. Hope this helps some of yall.

great video! My cat was diagnosed with asthma when she was little over 1 year old. Right now I have only given her oral steroids. And she is fine. At the moment. ( a month after we stopped steroids) But I would think pretty soon I will transfer to the inhaler. I will watch her weight that's for sure. Thanks for the video!

I also have a cat with asthma and she is special needs, slowly dying from lung. Disease. She is so smart, she will walk across my chest to wake me if she needs her inhaler while I'm asleep. I have to also give her breathing treatments everyday for 20 minutes but she tolerates it just fine. She is my baby.

My cat has feline asthma very little he is on medication doing good thanks God but I don't care I rather spend in the vet than paying my bills. He is more important than anything in this world bills can wait my cat will ALWAYS BE FIRST. I Will do anything but he WILL NOT SUFFER

I was prescribed that exact inhaler from like 10-19 but I had to switch to arnuity ellipta after that. Iirc it's a preventative inhaler, Flovent something. Love being able to breathe like a normal person most of the day. I hope the cat feels the same on that medicine.

My cat started to cough at age of 2. After a serie of tests, he is diagnosed with asthma as well. I bought a air purifier, humidifier and new litter for him, and of course, that inhaler. Nothing seems to completely stop him from coughing. I don't know what to do.
reply

I've combined Flovent inhaler and nebulizer with colloidal silver after, works like a charm. If he has a serious attack, I'd use albuterol and snaps right out of it. Get non-dust litter and air purifiers, and humidifiers, that should do the trick.

My sweet sid was diagnosed yesterday with severe asthma, he was so poorly he only had one functioning lung, he is on steroids now but they are making him very sleepy but I want him around for a long time so you have to do what is in his best interests.
reply

There's so little steroid in it if you're referring to systemic distribution that I'm surprised they'd mention weight gain. My cat has been on the same puffer for year with no weight gain.

This was such a touching video. It made me cry. My 15 yr old kitty was just diagnosed with diabetes and asthma. I'm hoping for more time with my baby.

My cat had asthma as well, and at first it was really scary. he got used really fast to the inhaller, he knew he was feeling better with the inhaller.

I miss my cat so much, he slept right next to my pillow by my head every night. He was by best little buddy. His name was Meathead. I loved him.

One of my cats do this, too. But he does it rarely like once every 2 months. He turns 5 years old in November. Is this reason for concern

Some optional Netting would be smart for that wheel So you can trap those Seriously unmotivated chunks inside when you spin the wheel
