Woman Is So Determined To Find Her Lost Cat Back in 2020 we adopted a shy black cat we named Pekoe. We only had her close to a year before she got out and didnt return. We spent months putting up posters and going door to door but it was during the peak of the pandemic so a lot of people wouldnt even talk to us or accept the posters. The whole thing made it so difficult to communicate or get help/support from the community. I still remember the trauma of hearing the coyotes howling nightly in the woods nearby and crying myself to sleep fearing the worst for her.
Two years, yes, TWO YEARS later we get a phone call from a vet hours away in another city claiming they had our Pekoe! (We assume somebody had stolen or dumped her) A lady who had found her and had been caring for her for a couple weeks. If she had no microchip, the lady had plans to keep her because she had fallen in love with Pekoe. Since it had been two years; I had moved into a friends place who had three cats already, and my mom let my sister move in with her two (aggressive) cats and two kids. It wouldnt of been fair to timid Pekoe and we knew it. We made the bittersweet decision to rehome her with the lady that found her, who was overjoyed. Yes, we were denied our reunion and I never did get to feel her soft fur again or have a proper goodbye, but I no longer cry myself to sleep knowing she is alive and loved.

I read on some comments on tw1tter that if your cat is lost, tell other cats in your neighborhood that you are looking for your cat. So that was what I did when my kitten (4 months) was missing for 3 days. All my cats are outdoor cats, and I would also feed strays that show up in the front yard. I told all of them to tell my kitten that his mommy is looking for him and to come home when he is done having his adventure.
One night about 2 days later at 10PM, I just had this feeling so I walked out of the house, past the fence and kept walking to the end of the street. Of course, my kitten was standing there just staring at me, like he is unsure of how I would react. I just picked him up calmly and say, let's go home. Ever since that day, he has been home and had never strayed far though the fence in our yard is not restrictive (i. e. the grates are wide enough that cats can pass through.

Back when i was a teenager, my dad always picked me up from my moms place (50km drive, no biggie) and on the way to my dads place he tells me that our cat has likely been taken by a lynx or simply ran off, she hadn't come back for 7 days and i was devastated, when i got to the farm i was in such a state that i couldnt even try calling for her (my dad has his own big farm) but after about an hour i went out on the porch and yelled as hard as i have ever yelled and about 3 minutes later i see my girl come running from the forest line about 500meters away from the porch.
God what a feeling that was, she died last april sadly. She got very sick very quickly but im glad i was there in her last moments holding her in my arms.
She lived a full life of 17 years.

Mine was an outdoor cat and went missing for two weeks, when she came home she looked as healthy as when she left so I suspect someone in my area tried to keep her because after she came home she’d never go near a specific street. I’ve no idea who it was but the moment she had the chance to escape she came straight home and she was even more lovey dovey after that. Bets cat ever Squidgy was, she was tiny for being an adult cat, not much bigger than a grown kitten so everyone oo’d and aww’d when they saw her. Miss you babe.

my cat Shiloh went missing twice. First time was for 10 days and the other 11 days. the first time, she came back (that was in 2018. the second, I came back from shopping and was chatting with somebody until I heard Shiloh's meows and screams. She was under a neighbor's roof (that was in 2019. I asked for help until getting her in my arms. Shiloh is now a 9 year old cat today. Those total of 21 days, I felt concern and thought a car struck her. But thank goodness that didn't happen.

Please keep your cats insideI’ve seen too many killed by cars. They are also considered an invasive species, especially to birds. I have two rescues and it’s a rule when I adopted them that I keep them inside. Please, keep them inside. As long as you don’t let them outside, they’ll never know what they’re missing. For those who have cats who are used to the outdoors, leash train them and only let them outside with you. Please.

I see that it was 5 years ago, now. I was wondering if you had him micro chipped. If you do, check the company because not all micro chips are created equal. Make sure the company has an 800 number that can be reached at all times of the day and night.
But also, the neighborhood cat, who I feed, has a kitty cat lojack attached to his collar. That way his human always knows where he is.

This is why you should keep your cat indoors. Nothing wrong with leashes, but never let your cat outdoors by him/herself. Sooner or later your beloved pet will not come home, and you will never know why. (Hit by a car, killed by a coyote, got in a fight, disease, infection, lost and taken to the pound, euthanised or rehomed. Who knows)

My cat has been missing for 7 days and some people said she might have been stolen by someone. I have looked for her everywhere and searched all houses in my neighborhood. I can't function normally anymore. She's all I think about and I can't imagine living without her. I hope a similar miracle happens for me and I find her soon.

I had a black cat that looked just like that. At first he'd wonder of for a day, then two, and then a week and the longest was almost three weeks. He always came home though. I became not to worry and it was impossible to keeep him indoors or leash him. He was the happiest Cat I ever knew. He loved his free life.

First off you shouldn’t let a cat run around lose in the city but if you do then accept the fact it might get run over by a car or many other things. Keep you’re cats indoors. It cost me several hundred dollars to have a cat that got in my radiator housing and got chopped up by the fan blade removed

I recently went thru this and it was one of the most helpless, gut wrenching experiences I have ever gone thru. the joy of finding her was beyond words. cats usually stay nearby and hide. I bought an airtag for her and now I can track her movements more easily.

Why have a cat on a leash Cats is outdoor or indoor animals that come and go as they please I don’t mean any harm I just wonder why put a cat on a leash when the cat can have a necklace around the neck! That says the who the cat belongs too

reply

Wow. i am all for animal lovers and a cat lover too but to have a cat found in one of your neighbours yard and u had to hire someone to tell you to look around your neighborhood to find him, is beyond me. one suggestion, maybe dont breed.

THAT Oh my God! from the Lady, for sure, is the only one, I have heard from the heart, ever.
You can watch this video over and over, again and again. her tears were from her soul, looking fot the beloved one. (No social media circus)

Outdoor cats live on average 6 years less than indoor cats. I constantly hear stories about cats being hit by cars. That's not to mention other dangers like thieves, coyotes, etc. If you want to keep your cat safe keep them indoors.

When I was a kid, I had a cat that went missing for a month! Then I was doing my homework one night, and he was just sitting on my porch We don’t know where he went or how he was eating. Cats can be crazy sometimes.
reply

Do NOT let your cat outdoors! Eventually, their instinctive nature will kick in and they will wander. And then they're exposed to possibly harsh conditions and predators. You are fortunate to have found your fur baby.
reply

I am so happy for you! I had a neighbor who recently trapped my cats and dropped them somewhere, won't say where. I looked around here for weeks before I found out what happened. I miss them every day. So happy for you!

Had 2 Bombay cats adopted 2 mis ago. They do grow on you and you get very attached to them 1/2 of it is how mischievous they are but bring great joy and the affection they show you.
reply

Please keep your cats indoors. Not only for their protection but also the environment. Of course in the wild they would roam more but unfortunately that’s not our situation
reply

If the cat liked it somewhere else, let him go, we had cats when I was a kid they came and went as they pleased, and they were fixed, but that cat looked frightened of you

A stray cat kicked my gray cat out of my apt, bullied her, made her sleep in the weeds with alligators, ate my cats food, and stole my bed and pillow. I just now evicted him.
reply

Like a good parent, you now know that his wellbeing depends on YOU! Microchip him and I know you'll never let him out of your sight again! Kudos for your tenacity!

Both my cat's went missing for around 24 hours. One came back out of knowere and the other we found in a thorn bush. They hadent even left the back yard
reply

Oh so glad you found him. Such love, I have not lost but thought I had lost my cat. It was the worst ever and somehow I found him. So happy for you.

1: 45 such a great bond between the owner and her missing beautiful baby cat. this made me cry. it's heart-breaking when a pet go missing.
reply

Hopefully, people will learn to keep their cats confined. Way too many bad things waiting to happen! Try a catio. Glad he was found.
reply

The guy who found her was like, yeah, okay, whatever, bye bye, lol. Clearly not a cat owner, I would have been a mess like her as well.
reply

An airtag on the collar (from Amazon these collars) can also keep track of the cat so that he or she can roam free sometimes
reply

Outdoor cats often go on hunting trips lasting a week. But if you really care about your cat. keep him inside for God's sakes.
reply

This is why I never let my cats out. When I as a kid my first car get hit by a car. They are family. Glad she found her little boy
reply

As a cat owner since I was 7 yrs. old and now being 71 yrs. old, here's a message for ALL you people: Keep your cat indoors.
reply

They don’t venture very far, usually they get scared and hide under a shed or porch or in this case under a trailer.
reply

My would get out and come back but one day he never came back I wasn’t that lucky to find him idk what happen to him
