The dog is prob tied up to a tree in the back yard and the girl that couldn't even take her hands out of her pockets to touch it, cries and complains that she has to take it a bowl of food every day because it gets her jeans dirty. Actions speak louder than words. Like I haven't seen my 8 year old daughter in 2 years, she has been through who knows what, and somehow people think it is best to act like no big deal if she is re-united. Wanna hug Na, I'll just keep my hands in my pockets. Nobody was instructed to do anything, what we see is what the reality is.

Wow. did anybody notice that the older girl sitting on the bench, kept her hands in her pocket and actually moved away from the dog when it tried to interact with her, instead of towards it! Very odd. Made me remember my own odd younger cousin who knowingly opened the gate to our backyard, after specifically being told not to, and let our beloved dog run away. He was lost for 5 days, despite us trying desperately to find him. Eventually he was found run over by a car. My cousin seemed to enjoy hearing that and we never saw he and/or my aunt again.

My uncle had a dog that was stolen and about two years later my uncle was sitting on the front lawn and he saw this dog running at him full blast from a distance and he couldn’t believe it but it was his dog. Later A school friend of his older sister said she always liked my uncles dog and when they moved to the country she stole him and the minute they moved back to town, my uncles dog broke loose and ran home. She said she was sorry and knew it was wrong. No one thought much of her after that.

Someone brought a dog in to get groomed and claimed she found him on the side of the road. He was a good little guy, and I'm sure his old family misses him terribly. But this lady didn't care, she just decided he was hers now and it bummed me out. I'm so glad this baby found her family. I hate it when hairy dogs go missing or get stolen because you can hardly recognize them sometimes.

She probably wasn't treated like family and the oldest girl didn't seem to be a fan.
EDIT: I believe the employee(s) made those comments 'cause they were surprised at the dog's initial fear and the family's lack of excitement.
EDIT: OK! I see now that it's been edited and that the older girl does pet and smile at her. Maybe the mom doesn't allow much obvious affection.

We left our cat with a friend for 4 weeks while we moved to a different state. She ended up giving our cat away, and then let outside. she has no claws. We thought we lost her forever. A month later the humane society called when they scanned her chip. She was rail thin and weak, but we drive 700 miles to get her back. Chip your petsyou never know

It's weird to think dogs eye sight is like our sense of smell. It works, but you'd never be able to tell who your friends are just by their smell. Likewise dogs can't tell who you are just by SEEING you. Need to smell you like we need to see you

my dog got out and was gone for 2 weeks. I was giving up hope and then someone 5 miles from house called and said they found my girl. she spent the next 11 years very happy and very spoiled. she passed in 2019 at the age 16

I found it a little weird that the older girl, in the purple jacket, seemed pretty apathetic over the whole thing! She had her hands stuck in her pockets the whole time and did pet the dog once! Geez!

Yes! Everyone, please microchip your pets and have a collar with your phone number on it. And if you see a stray, please take it safely to a shelter so these reunions can happen. Dogs and cats!

My cat was gone for a week and a half. She came back skinny as a twig and smelling like dirt. I'm pretty sure the only things she ate were grass and bugs. She's never left again.

Seemed like they could care less. Daughter didn't even pet it. Zero emotion from them. I'd be excited if not crying my eyes out. Weird

Wonder what this dog went through. Seemed disheartened. My neighbours dog shows more excitement every evening when he returns home.

The girl in the back, with her hands in her pockets, clearly couldn't give a f less that her family's dog was found.

So dogs are basically racist. Didn't recognize its owners because white people all look alike. Racist dog!

They only one who’s happy to see the poor thing is the mom. The two kids could seemingly care less.

I would have been a blubbering mess. So sweet. Everyone with a pet should get them chipped.

Wow, dogs seem to rely mainly on scent rather than sight, to recognize their former owners.
