Horse Mother Who Lost Her Baby Adopts A Foal As Her Own! Faith = Restored I do not know these horses of course, but I think Queen Uniek knew her baby was gone, because she sense it and she knew his scent. And she was in mourning for him. But, a momma is a momma. when she saw Rising Star with no mommy, it made her so happy. She was very happy to help this baby. Even more so. Because she knew what it was to lose her foul and she knew very well there was no mare for this little one. So she was going to make more than sure this baby would be safe. To see her dance and her eyes light up when she saw Rising Star. it was so beautiful. Horses love their families. They need each other. Some will own just one horse-so sad. They need companions that only speak their language. I am so sorry for the little one that died before birth. That was such pain for everyone there. How wonderful that these horses are all loved. So many are not and abused.

The next foal Uniek carried also didn’t come to term. Tragic.
As for Yvonne’s accident, she is almost fully recovered. Quite miraculous and not how the medical team though it would go. Her sight had double vision, suffered from vertigo, tinnitus, brain fog and rapid exhaustion, however now her eyesight is mostly back to normal, the tinnitus comes and goes, loud noises cause her pain. The vertigo is gone, and best of all she is riding again. They thought she would have brain damage and potentially never walk again IF she ever came out of the coma. She is still working on her recovery. But now had Queen Uniek, Reintje & Saly all at her newly built stalls and stables at Stal H at her home, where she will eventually have Rising Star also.

A little update about Rising star; he is a beautiful horse and until summer of 2023 was doing well and still a stallion but he has developed a condition called wobbler which is a neurological disorder they think something happened to his spine in his neck maybe. He has trouble controlling his back legs. They are keeping him isolated at Yvonne’s stable, where his adoptive mother Uniek is, to allow him to rest without any rough play that would happen if he was with other horses. He seems happy. They recently gelded him as well. He has had at least one treatment with a specialist who does manipulation, pressure points, and acupuncture where he seemed to have some improvement. We are all praying for a miracle that he will be healed of this condition.

To add even more of a Happy Ending to the story, take a look at any recent videos of Rising Star. He is a grown young colt now, and is often shown out in the turnout with his two Friesian colt buddies, Pieter and Rinse Janko.
Kind of sad that they don't retain that closeness to their Mother, like you see here, but that is the way of nature in the horse World (with exceptions. These days, Risey is still in the same barn with Mom Uniek, and he sees her all the time, but I have yet to see them react much to one another now.
Still, they are both still magnificent and it is fun to watch this young horse grow and learn, since most of us watched this unfold from the very beginning.

This makes me wonder about humans. Does it ever happen that a woman who loses her baby at birth gets to right away adopt another newborn baby Of course it's completely different and more difficult. still. Just wondering - it could possibly diminish the effects of adoption trauma if the adopted newborn can be breastfed.

When I saw the title to the video, I knew it was this Friesian horse and a new foal. Cried, as usual, it's so beautiful how the two found one another! And to end it with Rising Star bucking around with his new momma and nursing!

I just love this story. Every time I watch it I cry. I have been following their story all along. It is the most beautiful love story that doesn't happen to often. It has been an amazing journey.
