Whales are beautiful creatures, those real big ones especially seem like gentle giants. I've spent lots of time around ocean areas and been lucky enough to see whales breaching on a whale watch, which I believe is considered the most amazing unexplained animal behavior ever seen by human beings in the world, and the captain said that happens less than 10% of the time and we were very lucky.

Oushi does seem to be an immature tsundere, but his big issue is he seems to want to lock Yuki away in an attempt to protect her. She already has parents who are somewhat over protective and it's clear she wants to be able to be independent something Oushi fails to recognize.

Shame to call herself a scientist, when a whale is much better being self aware than her. Whales being nowhere near the EQ of humans, these people are just a disgrace. These are the scientists of today, expect such quality of work from them.

Humpback whales have also been recorded trying to stop killer whale hunts on other animals. It seems they want to get back at any predator that eats their young.
