Jace was weak and a big cry baby in the series. Hes supposed to be a sad and self deprecating kid hidden by witty humor and arrogance. They said they changed the story in Shadowhunters to make it more appealing to a larger audience, but they ruined the world we loved and created in our heads from the books. After the movies were cancelled I was looking forward to the series to bring my shadow hunter world to life and instead they butchered the plot and the characters. The acting in the series gets better with each season, but they could have done so much more. I dont understand why Cassandra thought this would be a great idea. Now people who havent read the books already might enjoy it greatly. But I cant help but compare and thats my own personal problem I know. But the main characters didnt portray their characters well. Jace was done horribly and clary as well. But maybe thats how theyre supposed to be since they changed the plot. Maybe they nailed exactly what the director wanted idk. But if thats the case then, once again, its not what a lot of people would have liked to see.

I just finished the whole series recently. I haven't read the book tho I honestly really want to and will try to read it in my free time. In my opinion as someone who hasn't read the book, the series delivered very well. I didn't really like Clary in the beginning just because. she looks like a typical and sallow girl to me, but eventually, she won me over because the way the story was developed was so great. I do know some psychologically related kinds of stuff that I can confidently say that this series and all characters are masterpieces. I love each and every character in the series and I've been so shocked to find out it was canceled. I haven't watched the movie yet, just watched the trailer, but the TV casts got all my heart. Wish to see them back one day. Meanwhile, gotta read the books.

Catarina is actually blue - she glamours it in the show. Also, Simon doesn't become a vampire till episode 8.
Anyway, I've never read the books, just researched, but personally I think I'd like storyline changes, or at least not mind them. For things I've seen that I read the book of first, I haven't minded. It keeps it interesting: .

There's a movie that's a lot more accurate to the book. It's called Mortal Instruments: City of bones. The movie is way more accurate and doesn't make drastic changes like the TV show. I highly suggest watching it

I hated the changes the book was way better. I enjoyed the movie better because they stayed closer to the books and you got to see more of jaces personality and his razor sharp wit.

Katerina does turn blue, its her warlock mark and she glamours it to blend in with the mundanes
Also Valentine did make people drink from the cup and turned into a shadow hunter

reply

The use of the Mortal Cup in the books and in the show are both correct, if a mundane (human) drinks from the Cup to Ascend, they can die if they're unworthy or improperly trained.

. Accounting isn't a profession? Are they serious? I read the first book and disliked it, the movie was okay but nothing special. I loved the TV show, the changes didn't matter to me.

I support changes in series compare books or manga because mostly thy are way better and improved. ShadowHunters is defiantly better from the changes so far mentioned.
