I respectfully disagree with this theory. Gothel does not even look similar to the evil queen. The queen has green eyes, while Gothel has grey/bluish eyes. The queen has arched eyebrows, while Gothel has normal eyebrows. The queen has straight black hair (it's revealed during her transformation into the old hag, while Gothel has curly hair. Gothel has a hooked nose, while the queen's nose is straight. Gothel's body is very curvy with big breasts, while the queen's body seems thinner and with average breasts. Also, the Queen is more serious, cold and emotionless, while Gothel is all over the place, with a sassy, dramatic and teathrical personality.

I have a theory: the Evil Queen was Snow White's real mother, as demonstrated by the considerable physical resemblance. Snow White grew up to be an equally powerful witch, but being Snow White, made entirely different use of her magic, creating beauty to help other people. She became queen and became the Fairy Godmother in her old age, since being beloved of her people, and a queen, it simply wouldn't be suitable to call her a witch.

At the beginning of Tangled, the story goes that there was an old woman who found a magical flower and 300 years later a princess was born and the old lady was still going to that flower till the queen got deathly ill and the king's men went out and found the fkower that healed the queen. The old woman then kidnapped the child and raised her.

I don't think Gothel harvested that magical flower, there is another theory that Te Fiti in Moana created those magical flowers because one of them were shown in a scene while Moana was climing up a mountain, then the magical flowers got endangered and the last one left was used by Rapunzel's mother to give birth

The Evil Queen may have survived the rock fall. at least the first time, became Mother Gothel and both are called the witch. They share the same dagger, same old look, the same Germany, same voice, also share a red apple imprint from Dagger when she hurt eugene, both cheated death for a while. Seems legit to me

There's a easter egg on Tangled that almost confirms the theory. When Gothel stabs Eugene you can spot a apple, that is a foreshadowing meaning that she almost killed him just like she almost killed Snow White with a apple.

Actually mother gothel has a daughter named Cassandra who she left behind when she stole rapunzel and I am not sure if this is canon or not but in descendants Grimhilde has a daughter named evie
