The most likely reason is that he was filming Jumanji 3 at the time F9 was filming. I highly doubt there was ever any cast drama, the so called fued was probably a promotional stunt for the movie.

i stopped watching the fast and the furious after the second movie
why not ask sylvester stallone, dolph lundgren and mayb jean-claude to get in the franchise?
