15 Improvised Scenes In Euphoria Season 2

Some of the most memorable scenes from Euphoria were actually a result of total improv! From the hilarious oneliners to the brutal arguments, Euphoria took advantage of just how skilled their actors were. Rues fights with her family are next level. Both her aggressive and violent argument with her mom in the first season and with her mom and Gia in the second came from the actors themselves. These performers are close and trust each other enough to be able to let themselves go to those dark and angry places, knowing they are just acting and will take care of each other when the cameras stop rolling. Maude Apatow is pretty perfectly cast as Lexi especially when we see her in action backstage bringing her play to life. Many of her oneliners and even her confessional style writing were loosely based on the way the actress behaved when she was in high school and running a show! Though the stakes definitely werent as high then and we doubt their budget was as big as this one! One actress was pushed so far by their costar, that they wound up yelling out curse words during a take, revved up by the sass they were being served. A newbie to the scene happens to be one of the best improv talents around, many of their best parts coming directly from the actor. Euphoria is nextlevel intense, so when certain actors get a script that they feel is missing a bit of heat, theyll speak up. When this does happen you can bet that new dialogue gets improvised by both the actors and the creator of the show! Keeping the set open to the flow has made the show that much better, letting us appreciate just how great these actors are!

If you actually work on film and tv this show sounds like a nightmare. No pre planning is why you have these 16-18 hour camera days. Brutal. Thats not counting the couple hours before and after a lot of people work. Gross.
Edit: Im not saying it doesnt look good or its not a well done show these things can be achieved without human beings having to work 20 hours a day. Everyday. For a few months. Not just once or twice like the Background complaining had to do. There are hundreds of people involved in making film and tv and the director and actors work the shortest hours.

Its funny how Nate shamed Cassie for hooking with your best friends ex yet. didnt he do the same thing to McKay? Sure Cassie was wrong for hooking up with Nate because hes Maddys ex, but Nate is also in the wrong for hooking up with McKays ex. and Maddys best friend, who happens to be Cassie. So everyone solely wants to laugh at Cassie and go after her for that, but barely anyone goes after Nate? They were both in the wrong, yet Cassie takes pretty much most of the blame meanwhile Nate was toxic, manipulative, and abusive.

9: 25 Any and all ideas are welcome with the Euphoria team Unless you're the only plus sized person on the show and don't want to play the role of the insecure fat girl all over again, I guess. Poor Barbie. She expressed basic boundaries and Sam didn't care. So when she refused to do the scenes, he cut her out of the season entirely. All because she didn't want to be type-casted and turned into the stereotypic fat girl. The whole season suffered because Sam was salty.

Ive often wondered if a lot of scenes (not just these) are improvised. I know theres a script and actors are supposed to feel a certain way, so Im sure it brings out things that werent initially meant to be there.
Its prob hard enough for 1 person to write an entire show by themselves and try to put themselves in other peoples brainsso by improvising, it could def show a POV that the author or director never thought of. It makes the scenes better imo.

I think improv and letting the actors put more into the dialogue instead of following a strict script is what makes a show/movie good. You can tell when a show or something is super scripted, if just doesnt feel as natural and isnt a good movie to me. I love how much depth is in the shows and how amazing these actors are to be able to bring these characters to such high levels.

Knowing how Sam just shows up to set with a vibe and no specifics, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that the entire season was improvised. It would explain why so many questions remain unanswered; the cast simply couldn't remember the plot points they improvised.
Also, how does not telling Maude the plan make her freak out less than if you told her?

Barbie gets a surprise micro dick, lets not call it improv and because she has a legit problem that will be punished for being known, no lets give her way less lines next season,
Leta just make Sydney show tits. Oh wait, she expressed her frustration and she was the main focus of season 2.

i dont think sam really let them take all that control considering kat was brushed under the rug after having an argument with the director over wanting her to develop an eating disorder
she stood her ground and he didnt like that so he cut her screen time heavily

Everyone praises that so many scenes were improvised but sometimes watching them it just feels messy and drawn out, like the scene loses its purpose. I miss the scripted season 1 vibe

The scene where Zendaya held her scene partner, who played her mom, a piece of broken glass to the actresss face, I was scared and disturbed that it was improv, not scripted!
