Bridgerton is back and so are the painful costumes! The Regencyera drama is a feast for the eyes and looks beautiful but that beauty causes a whole lot of pain to the actors sporting the periodstyle and typically uncomfortable costumes. Simone Ashley had a rude awakening on her very first day on set as the leading lady, learning that some normal activities like eating werent as easy as one might expect. The corset struggle is real and all the actors who wear them throughout the season can attest to how difficult they could make even the simplest of things, like putting on shoes. Phoebe Dynevors body went through the wringer once again, before her body could even fully heal from all the wear and tear from season one. Nicola Coughlan could be dangerous to be around when she was in heels the actor drew blood from one of her costars and regularly fell over pretty randomly. The actress was also losing her hair, sort of. Lets just say it wasnt too surprising to stumble upon one of Penelope Featheringtons curls somewhere on set. Regencyera clothing made for a modernday problem where to put cell phones? Jonathan Bailey lets us in on a secret about where their tech hides away when the cameras are rolling. Those wearing corsets on set struggled to breathe at times, and the rest of the cast members got a bit of a taste of the experience as they all wore new accessories on the set and this new look wasnt just being sported by the actors the whole crew came on board! We love watching Bridgerton in huge part because of the brilliant costumes and the fact that the actors endure all these struggles wearing them makes us appreciate the performances even more

Easy fix and the actresses could be so much more comfortable, 1) Try putting the cast in period correct regency stays, by 1814 they even had a cotton/linen equivalent of a cross over bra, 2) have the cast wear a linen or cotton shift under their stays, which is what women in the time period would've done, 3) Stop showing someone trying to tight lace a pair of, very non period correct judging by the material and construction, regency stays. Stays of the period were only very lightly reeded or boned, if they were at all, and tight lacing would've done nothing but wrecked the garment. There is also zero point to trying to tight lace in that period because the clothing wasn't designed to accentuate the waist anyway, stays were basically glorified linen or cotton push up bras, they weren't designed to make your waist teeny tiny (which incidentally in the Victorian and Edwardian eras was far more likely to be achieved through a clever illusion of padding and not by lacing the corset they wearing to within in an inch of its life, also Victorian style photoshop was totally a thing as well.

The things this may be shocking but in history women had the option not too tight lace and of course everyone took that option,
But of course in bridgertons since they can't research they decided to go for the modern myth women were forced to wear the terrible corsets. With nothing underneath and they're actually called stays

This is exactly why corsets are out of fashion nowadays. Besides, small waists are highly overrated anyways. By the way, whales have been killed in the making this highly painful garment that shouldn't be a fashion statement in the first place!

The most serious Is any actres wears the chemise: before to wear the corset, It wears the chemise then the corset. Beacause if It doesn't wear the chemise It'll be harmfull as 7: 08.

I still dont understand how at one point in history people used to wear a corset every single day and not pass out
