Joker deserves many awards, especially the Oscar for best film, best director, best lead role, best production design, and many others. For a film that didn't rely on an enormous budget, huge amounts of CGI, full support from the studio, or a huge marketing campaign selling tons of merchandise, it really made an impact on the collective conciousness of film goers and filmmakers alike. Film critics can bash Joker all they like, nobody can deny not only it's financial success, but that this isn't just your average popcorn comic book movie. It's something way more than that. It's a true work of art. But now I fear it will be carbon copied by film studios, and they will churn out uninspired knock offs just to try to rake in the cash. As Heath Ledger's Joker said before this one, -It's not about money, it's about sending a message. - The studios always try to succeed by using formulas they try to extract from original, successful films. Just like the music industry. Joker is the best film based off of comic book characters since The Dark Knight in my opinion.

The film is about a psychopathic serial killer.
If you assumed this film was going to be g-rated film then you were extremely misguided and naive.
This movie was meant to be dark and anyone wanting this film to be anything else is neither a fan nor is he/she meant to be one.
Get over yourselves and your superficial sense of social justice.
Wanton violence is a staple of the Joker-s persona.
This was for DC fans more than it was for gaining new fans and Phoenix did an amazing job.
