This is disgusting! My ex had gorgeous, clean dreads. I wish I could insert a photo. It was always clean and never matted. Why is the top of the first girls hair so frizzy? His started at the top with zero frizz. He shaved them off because I wouldnt let him meet my GranGran until he did. I couldnt imagine brushing them out. OUCH! Its not 6 years of growth. Its 10 years of matting. MOLD?
Thats because theyre matted. They arent clean and thin. ICK!

I wish I had filmed my dread removal.
I removed a full head of almost butt length dreads!
I'd had them for 7 years and I'd had a constant neck ache for 3 of those years!
It took 6 days, 3 tubs of conditioner, 2 bags of hair loss and I lost the feeling in my thumb and forefinger for 2 months!
It was epic!
But now I have my beautiful natural curly hair which I'm loving and embracing for the first time in my life!

I do not have dreads, but I buzz my hair every 5 years. To people who don't know me, they think I'm crazy. I have curly hair but when I buzz it, it is straight. I prefer my hair short but it is very high maintenance and I start to miss my curls. So then I grow it back out. This is very brave of these women.

in rastafarian culture, dread means respect. the rastafari dread Jah (God, which means they respect him.
dread-locks. their locks show dread of Jah, as they don't touch razors to their scalps or beards.

Yeah, there was one spring in Hong Kong that was so wet some years ago that I really thought my hair was getting a bit of a moldy scent. And that's not even with dreads. Thank God it can be resolved with regular shampoo and an improvement in the weather. It was truly horrible.

First girl obviously didn't do apple cider vinegar soaks after washing to keep away mildew/dreadrot.
After EVERY wash I soak my locs in a bucket of water and ACV.
Keeps all mildew and mold away. Idk why people don't do the same thing.
Gotta take care of yo hair people!

I had bum-long dreads and they were so heavy I had to ask for help while washing them. Also after washing I had to stay at home all day because they were drying so long. I cut them, so right now they are shoulder length, yet your dreadlocks videos make me want get rid of my own

I've had to brush them out of horses tails before, metal comb and baby oil is what we used. Cowboy Magic is for horses, it does ok but oil, any oil works way better. In my opinion anyways. I feel like I would be a pro dread remover after as many horses as I have done.

For those that are curious what cowboy magic is. it's made for horses manes and tails that get knotty with sticks and junk from the pasture. It works wonders on extreme tangles and knots. It's similar to biosilk but thicker consistency.

People really need to learn the difference between dreads/locs and just matted hair. Matted hair is absolutely gross and it's what most white people do to 'dread' their hair. Really they're just matting their hair and it's so unhygienic.

My dreads are down to my booty. Ive been wanting to just shave my head but my ol man said i have a big head and once theyre gone and my heads shaved i cant go back if i dont like my big bald head. Lol

The amount of hair that you're left with after brushing out dreads is the reason I never got dreads, also the mold and upkeep on growth
