i've struggled with this for YEARS now and my doctor knows, i have a mix of seborratic dermatitis with pre-existing dermatillomania so that is just a horrible combo. i was prescribed ketoconazole shampoo but stopped using it bc i was dying my hair fashion colors and that shit would strip the color like crazy and overall just leaves my hair feeling super dry. I'm growing my natural hair out again and using the shampoo but my anxiety has gotten worse which means I've been picking more.
it is really great to see that I'm not alone in this and see more information being shared with the public on it. i have always been so insecure abt my hair and skin bc of this and even though it's kinda a trend rn to take care of your scalp a little extra, i have definitely found some new things that have helped my situation through it trending and am incredibly grateful!

Braggs apple cider vinegar 100%%%% works! I have scalp AND facial dandruff, and it clears it up easily. Also makes your hair more shiney. When I remember to use it regularly, I don't have a problem at all. Just dilute with water, depending on how sensitive your skin is. Minimally 50/50 IMO. It works the best when you soak it into your hair and get in well into your scalp. I squeeze the excess out of my hair, put on a hair cap, and then usually wrap in a towel.
Leave on min. 30 minutes, depending on whether I'm just lounging around the house.
Dr. Mike. Please. PLEASE! Stop hating on ACV! DO SOME PERSONAL RESEARCH!
As someone else pointed out. certain people. Pharmecutical companies ahem DOCTORS, would not profit by researching natural remedies, that they couldn't SELL to you.

Apple cider vinegar is acidic and anti fungal, there are studies to show that. So why wouldn't it be beneficial for a scalp that is producing too much oil and causing dandruff? Alkaline products can cause issues with hair and apple cider vinegar I believe can help reset the ph balance on the scalp. not sure but I use apple cider vinegar and it makes my hair extremely soft, but I use Dr bronner's lavender hair wash and I have excessive flaking as soon as my hair dries. I want to stick to all natural products but I'm at a loss of what to do

OK, this comment is 'retrospective' (2022, thinking to myself that you are recommending fragrance free shampoo and yet your products are so beautifully scented. I already have the Resilience and Color Protection products, but are you considering a fragrance free 'scalp shampoo'? I notice my scalp itches more right after coloring my hair. I try not to wash it for a few days after it's washed at the salon to let the color 'sink in'. Maybe that's when I should use the Gloss, right before that first wash after color?

as a mediterranean girl who went vegan for a while. no, there arent really many changes, i personally got a protein deficiency for some medical thing (not related to what i was eating) so i stopped being vegan. people from Spain (where im from) mainly do it for ethical or climatic reasons and the impact is mostly social and environmental, but healthwise, except some cases of people who had vv bad diets, ive never met anyone whos had big changes when switching from an average mediterranean diet to a vegan one

I use ACV and distilled water equal parts to spray my itchy scalp and the itching stops. I was scratching so much it affected my hair follicles but it worked for me the first time. I think it's tied to my gut health which isn't up to par to digest my food lacking stomach acid. Again ACV mixed with Elderberry and distilled water works quite well.
I have never had an itchy scalp before and scratching so much made my scalp much worse. For me it was ACV that worked for me.

I've tried every single one of these products. I don't have an oily scalp, my skin is generally dry, and I've used H&S to see if fungi was the problem (didn't work. I then tried T/Gel to see if psoriasis was the problem (didn't work. I tried these treatments for extended periods of time to see if maybe my skin just needed time to adjust. I am at a loss, I'm at a point now where my dry skin clumps up on my scalp and begins to bleed in some cases.

I know people have been using apple cider vinegar with other products for decades and it's had beneficial effects. I'm not sure about using it by itself in hair but I think it would be worth doing a study on. Cus I mean if you think about it apple cider vinegar is used to clean foods by removing bacteria and it's used to gargle with to remove bacteria in your throat so I don't see why it wouldn't also remove dirt and bacteria out of your scalp

Please help I need an answer its not stopping no matter how often I take a shower I am taking showers probably 2 times and sometimes 3 times a week.

I use Nizoral anti dandruff for psoriasis, it has tea tree oil. I've been using it 3 days in a row and nothing, I still flake badly, itching isn't as bad but still there. I wash my hair leave it in for 10-15 minutes then rinse, but nothing works. I'm going to a dermatologist next week. Idk what to do anymore

5: 01 Coal tar and ketoconazole shampoos might be good but THEY ARE A SERIOUS HAZARD FOR YOUR LIVER, IT MAY CAUSE LIVER FAILURE so use it only under doctor's supervision and monitor liver health too. Stay away if you have liver disease like fatty liver which ironically is often related to sebhorric dermatitis.

Damn, I love this, Educational, somewhat sweet and plenty of decent advice, I really like how the conversation flowed between these two, I can finally start treating my condition. Every time I see Dr. Mike I make sure I've been having regular checkups with my own doctor!
