Hairdresser reacts to americas next top model makeovers s. 23 DB_Dojo: As a natural red head I completely understand her reaction, personally, growing up, I have always felt that it is a major part of who I am. I also feel that it could be her reaction to the things she has been told growing up. For example, I have always been told not to cut or dye it(even when I have directly expressed my desire to, by not only my family and friends, but also random strangers. I have also had people be horrible to me about it (ex. I have been told to go to hell by a stranger for no reason) and although no one in my circle has ever said anything about it, it is always something that has made me feel somewhat out of place. I have had to learn how to like my hair and I feel it may have been the same for her. So for them to tell her that her hair is not red enough is just mean. In her situation I would have felt better about them dying my hair black than telling me my natural hair that no one else can get (not even in a bottle) is not good enough. (Sorry for the rant but unless you are a redhead, you probably don't understand the full emotional weight the color holds)

I understand why Cherish is upset. Natural red hair is impossible to recreate from dye. It has so many different tones and colours, so to mess with that for such a small change does suck. However, I think she was definitely being dramatic. Be upset, but don't cry and moan about it. Like Brad said, they know they're getting makeovers one way or another. The whole my hair will never be the same was incredibly dramatic. Girl, give it a few years to grow out, and you'll be perfectly fine. Relax.

it IS a big deal for the redhead - Im a natural blonde and a lot of blonde color looks fake on me bc im so light. Our hair has so much variation why would you want to replace that? I can understand some highlights, but ur base color is perfect for ur skintone. Ive had bleach in my blonde hair and it was nearly impossible to tone - even for the stylist.
Plus it will grow out and youll have to transition it. Ive been thru that.

To all the criers, these girls knew exactly what they were signing up for. Its cycle 23 for gods sake! Its the kind of treatment theyre going to get in the model worldtheir hair will be cut, dyed, and put in various changing styles constantly. I mean a lot of this show and their makeovers are eye rolling, but yall acting like these girls had no idea that there was a possibility of them getting a drastic hair change.

I get the idea behind giving them something they hate, I mean if you want something bad enough youll push through it and deal with it and deal with the hand youve been dealt. If I were the girl with the boxy cut, the girlie girl, I wouldve at least asked to go a very light pretty blonde, if you get a cut that looks too masculine then BLEACH IT! IT WILL 100% GIVE YOU THAT FEMININITY BACK.

Tbh I completely understand the red heads thaughts on them changing her hair that's how I am with mine I love my hair abd every strand is a slightly different colour and that's what makes it so naturally beautiful and uneque I have naturally blonde 3 foot long completely vergin hair and that's one of my favourite parts of myself it's something not many people have

I felt bad for the ginger girl because she felt her ginger her was unique because it wasnt just ginger, it had yellows and reds in it but they wanted to turn it into a brighter ginger colour but that would make it one tone. So I guess it made her feel less unique just hope she learns to understand her hair does affect her uniqueness

sad cause the twins look the same so their personalities is what set them apart and antm treated their personalities like something that could be played off for the drama when in actuality now neither of them fits into the aesetic of the type of modeling they want to do.

Omg! This cherish girl! Whaa whaa, my whole life people said I was ugly and my freckles are ugly- literally auditions for a beauty competition!

4: 50 were not asking you to change how you are or how you work. i just wanna give you something that people go 'thats her'
translation: we dont want to change your identity. we just want to change how people identify you. am i missing something here?

reply

The makeovers are just power trips and treating models like they're feelings are unimportant. I get change happens, but these are beautiful people with no reason for pink, purple or any crazy stuff. Just my opinion. I think it's cruel

I feel like they sabotage every girl beside the blonde one with the little nose like wth were they thinking? All the hair looked way too before
India's hair looks like one of those girl who got bored during quarantine

Natural ethnic hair always seems to look better in this show. Maybe it's just Western culture swinging back into the all-natural look, but ethnic hair always makes a better statement of health and beauty.

I get the girly girl thing, it seems like a really personal thing for her. But gworl, you are a model. You're supposed to be a blank canvas, a slate, for the designers and stylists to work on.

8: 44 that poor girl, I would sue them if they did that to me. Its not right to intentionally make someone not look or feel good just to get a reaction or to basically damn their chances.
