Pro hairdresser rates your hair routine for long, healthy hair
video description
However, for a female with 4 ft hair aka shin lenght for me, my routine with thick/ curly hair is as follows.
1) I wash only 1x a week, to every 2 weeks. I vary it up
2) I shampoo my hair on top and under. (I have to because its so thick and my shampoo is SUPER gentle so only way to get it totally clean)
3) conditioner. I plot my hair into my palm with a palm full of conditioner(I have TINY hands so its about 4 fingers) and I scrunch them run my fingers through that up till my shoulders. Leave it in while I do my skincare routine(cetaphile) and shaving if needed
4) I rinse my hair out at this point
5) I only recommend doing this if you DONT have super fine or thin hair. Mine is so thick I HAVE to brush it out when wet trust me Ive tried; my hair breaks and tangles too much if I dont.
6) I continue to rinse and brush my hair out until it runs clean from soap suds and is nice and silky.
7) shower is turned off I ring my hair out. Its still flipped upside down like I did when brushing and rinsing as I brush it some more and ring my hair out more since my brush tends to help work more water out as my hair separates
8) profit, jk I let it air dry
9) I choose between the plop method, braiding, or just letting it be free for the night without doing anything(I only do this when it has lots of oil in it as I get close to needing a wash)
This was my routine micro broken down number of products 2 amount of hair brushing. lost count. Actual wash time 45 minutes w/ brushing.
As a side note, I finger comb tangles out between washes otherwise lots of breakage and frizz since I have naturally curly hair but its super thick and long so they weigh down and usually you only see thick waves in them. Unless you see some of my shorter strands to my shoulders as I have some of that, then you can CLEARLY see the ringlets like as my mom puts it Shirley temple curls

i dont think brad will see this, but to anyone that can see my comment, i really really need some help!
i have dark brown, naturally-straight hair that is a little more oily than it should be. over the summer, i got blonde highlights in my hair that i ended up not liking so a little less than a month ago, i had it dyed back to dark brown.
in the past, ive tried washing my hair once every few days and none of them worked out. my hair would always be so full of oil to the point where it looked like i just stepped out of the shower, and i had so much dandruff. it was a huge mess, and i felt dirty all the time. so, i kept washing my hair everyday to keep it healthy and clean. my hair looks amazing when i wash it everyday its shiny and silky, looks perfect.
and ever since i got my hair recolored, ive still kept my same haircare routine to keep my hair as healthy as possible, but recently i noticed that the dye was starting to come off, and my highlights were, to my horror, coming back. my friends have told me to stop washing my hair everyday, but i know that if i dont wash it everyday, its going to be disgusting and oily. (im also aware that hair might take time to adjust to not washing it everyday, but ive tried to stick to the new routine for two weeks before and it never got better)
i really need some advice! i want to preserve the dark dye in my hair so that my highlights wont come back, but i also want to keep my hair healthy.

I wish i could run a wet brush or my finger tips through my hair to detangle it but it doesnt work very greatly alot of hair starts falling out inbetween my fingers not sure whats up but its been falling out alot but it has never fallen out like this before? Maybe its the all natural shampoo and conditioner my hair isnt liking much maybe i do need try chemical ones more i do put abit of conditioner in the top of my scalp only cause if i dont my hair air dries and the top gets really dry and itchy if i dont.

I wash my hair twice a week at the most. Always condition it. And I only air dry. I also only squeeze the water out of my hair like the first girl, never rub. I always use leave in oils on the lower half of my hair every day. I never use heat on my hair. If I have to blow dry it's always on cool. And I always brush my hair from the bottom up and in two sections. I rarely put my hair up as well. Right now I use Dove products. Don't know if they are great or not but they cause me no issues.

Because I have naturally long wavy hair that is medium thickness so my routine is different but it fun to watch you react to people hair routines. Another is reason why I was my hair almost everyday is because I naturally have a really oily scalp so it helps to get rid of all the excess oil. But I did learn a few months ago that if I go without washing my hair on two days that are spaced out from each other my hair turns out fine. Thats what I do with my hair and it works for me

Don't hate me for this but I wash my hair about every 2 to 3 days. I can't go more than 3 days without washing my hair because it will become extremely oily. I only use color safe shampoo and conditioner on my hair and it's pretty healthy. I've done a full bleach once, bleached my ends once, and got my roots bleached once. I won't be bleaching my hair again but I will be getting it cut short. I should note that all the bleaching and dyeing is done by a professional hair stylist.

I wish that I could wash my hair once a week but my job sees that and omg you're nasty go wash your hair. So I have to wash every other day. My hair is thick af due to genetics but it's short right now and I just want it to grow faster. It's healthy right now so hopefully that helps. I only brush it after it's dry and just let it do it's own thing. No hairspray or anything, no heat styling products. Just let it be natural

Ive had long hair (like just past my butt) for as long as I can remember, but Ive only recently been experiencing breakage, Ive never learned how to care for super long hair like my own but lately Ive been trying to keep it healthy. My hair has improved and grown so much more after I figured out protective hairstyles for sleep! Less tangle means less breakage when brushing: )

I wash my hair every day, but it is still healthy and not dried out at all. I use a circle motion when I shampoo my hair, but I don't get tangles. Also, I don't understand what people do within the time they are waiting for the conditioner to soak in. Do they get out of the shower? Just stand there and wait? I'm genuinely confused lol.

Can we get something right here. Let's talk about the cold water. y'all doing it wrong. you wash with warm water, rinse the shampoo out with warm water, do your conditioner THEN you rinse with cold water. It closes the hair cuticles to help your hair feel smoother instead of frizzy.

Wash your hair as often as it needs! If your hair is oily, you live in a humid climate, or you workout a lot it is perfectly fine to wash it daily or every other day. When our hair gets oily/dirty theres a yeast that feeds on that which causes irritation and can prevent hair growth.

Sorry, but I dont like manky, smelly hair. Im not going to go an entire week between washes. Ive gone three days without washing, used dry shampoo in between and it just feels itchy and gross. Hair can get gross and dirty out in the environment for days on end

i think she leaves the shampoo in maybe because it contains actives like salicylic acid that helps to exfoliate. Just like how some people can use a salicylic acid cleanser for their face and leave it on for a few mins to reap its benefits before washing it off
