Hairdresser reacts to people using the wrong toner on their blonde hair Kayla: I won't pretend to know what the science of this is but I SAVED myself from a ridiculously bad attempt at toning with lemon juice and conditioner one time.
It was 100% my fault, I shopped at Sally's drunk and bought Wella 050 instead of the Wella T18 I was looking for (which also wasn't the toner I really needed but I digress)
Wella 050 is a strong, dark violet toner that is supposed to be added in small quantities to other toners or dyes.
The cashier did try to warn me but, again, I was drunk and determined.
I mixed the entire bottle with 20 volume developer and applied it to my whole head. I don't drink anymore lol
My hair turned HORRIBLY dark gray with hints of brown and green. I don't know how to describe the color- it was not cute.
Per the advice of the internet I juiced like 8 lemons, mixed the juice with conditioner, and applied it all over my head.
I about cried with relief when it worked. My hair was not perfect- but I was able to get it to a nice, intentional-looking golden blonde and let it rest for a little while before I tried again
Using baking soda AND lemon juice doesn't make sense to me though- the base and acid would neutralize each other

You have to use the toner of the Level # you ARE now. not what level you want You can pick something Darker than your level, not lighter. Using a stronger developer will not change that. Stronger developer is for when you are bleaching hair that is stubborn. If you end up with bleached roots and orange hair: find out what level orange you are at & pick a demi permant dye or toner that is that level or darker. You can pick that level ash, warm brown, cool brown, or any color in the rainbow. just has to be that level or DARKER!

I have white blonde hair so some tips for everyone! Start with short hair if its dark and you have to bleach it a lot so itll grow out quick and you can cut the damage off after a few months. The trick is only bleaching your roots after that, since ur roots lift quicker you only have to bleach once. Also I tone with a purple deep conditioner, so no damage. Im a year into the process and I have boob length healthy white hair!

As I'm a hairstylist for 20 years I love when these dumb asses F their hair up themselves because some people don't respect are craft and talent and think anyone can do hair, obviously not we went to school, had to do a state board exam get licensed, and renew that license, and constantly stay updated by paying for classes, so yeah F your hair up and come to us and pay hundreds to get it corrected.

I found out that rubbing alcohol if used immediately after semi-permanent or permanent color has been added bleached hair will get color out of the hair as long as the hair is still wet afterwards. I learned this as an easy hack to get pink and blue and purple and green and all sorts of different color hair dye off of my skin and bath tub and sink countertop immediately after dying

Just make an app. People enter info about the state of their hair color, type, and past treatments (ie: perms, dyes, bleach, etc) they take a pic in daylight and the app analyzes the hair color and recommends the best toners for their hair. Obviously it would be hugely flawed but still better than this random chance thing we currently have going on.

I'm definitely guilty of using T18 lol but I discovered Wella's Color Tango toners a couple of years ago and they're amazing. Super conditioning. I also recently discovered Milk Shake's Icy Blonde purple shampoo and conditioner and that's been a game changer between lightening sessions too.

I'll bet the first girl spent more buying ALL of the products used than if she had professionally the first time. The 2nd girl should have gone to professional instead of going broke spending so much time and money for a bad job that's going to need correcting by a pro.

I find it both funny and infuriating when people say I dont recommend this brand because it didnt work when the brand wasnt the problem, it was entirely human error because they dont actually put basic research into the product theyre using.

Okay so that last girl used purple conditioner a second time and magically got a months worth of roots? The audacity of trying to fool us with her trickery. I bet she bleached it again the. Waited a month and toned it. With a real toner.

I would recommend don't watch other people's videos. Go to a professional and if you can't afford it save for it. While you save just let your hair grow out some. If it's damaged then the hairdresser will get rid of it.

Yo I have chelated my hair many times to get toner out. I do lemon juice mixed with conditioner and it works EVERY TIME I swear! And Ive had some awful toner oopsies I suggest everyone tries it before a bleach bath!

Me sitting at home with my virgin beautiful brown hair asking myself why the F. They all want damaged blond hair specially with the dark eyesbrowes. It reminds me so much on the 90ths

After watching these videos. I will continue the hair cutting and coloring to the pros. Not worth the stress and the expense of buying all these products. Hey, Brad hello from New Jersey.

Well I found out why I couldnt get my hair to ice cold white despite using the exact same toner as the last girl but having a slightly higher level of blond when I bleached my hair
