Rachel's Video: Rachel's Channel: Comment with your favorite tips or trick Katie: I have super fine, straight hair and i cut it short (about to my chin) about a year ago and just now started using a new technique for wearing my hair straight (as curly doesn't work so well on it short. I like to first flip my hair upside down and comb through it with a brush sprayed with a medium hold heat protectant. Then I put it in a ponytail on top of my head and go to bed. Since my hair is naturally straight to give it more volume I kind of twist the whole ponytail and then clamp it to my head. I straighten it in the morning and I really love the results, the heat protectant gives a nice lift of volume as well as defending your hair and it doesn't have that hard feel normal hairspray gives(: I hope this helps anyone else with fine hair looking to wear it straight. If you have fine hair that's curly I imagine you can skip the whole twist step, I just find for my straight hair it helps give more volume(:

I have such a problem with pulling my hair back I hate having it loose I think the tighter the better but I realized a few days ago that its only doing more damage. I also cannot go a day without washing it. I went all of january trying to get my hair used to it not being washed and it wasn't having it I went the first week doing every other day, the second week I did wash, skip, wash, skip, skip and my hair looked like I dipped in in grease I gave up by the end Not only that but I was beginning to get dandruff (eww. Lately I've resorted to just parting it to the side and pulling the two sides up with bobby pins but: 1. I feel like im 5 years old and 2. My hair gets caught in everything since it is really long and it being pin straight inly causes it to tangle really terribly

On the same note a #3, some things I've started doing recently that have really made a difference (for good) is conditioning my ends 10-15 minutes before I shower and applying shampoo only to my scalp. The pre-conditioning helps prevent my ends from getting dried out by the shampoo. I usually condition them again lightly after I've rinsed out the shampoo as well. I feel like this routine really helps balance my hair by keeping the hair from being too oily and keeping the ends from being dry & straw-like. Plus it allows me to use more moisturizing conditioners, which I prefer, as I think they make my hair look better as well as stay detangled longer.

Kayley, love your hair, but I need your help, or anyone's I follow every rule you've stated and then some, and my hair is constantly breaking It's almost alarming, I have to detangle over the sink to catch all the hair breaking off, I'm not rough with my hair, use high end products, etc. even in the shower it seems like I'm losing a lot of hair(my hair is long, and hadn't been dyed in I've 2 yrs, I used to highlight. Are their any products out there for you to recommend for anti breakage? I'm nervous I'm going to end up with no hair. Btw my hair is like yours, long fine but a lot of it (for now): ( Please help: )

Learning how to deal with my fine hair is definitely a work in progress, even at 23 years old I only wash my hair every 3-5 days, that may sound gross but it cuts down on so much oil because my hair has learned not to produce as much. I always use Organix volume shampoo and only put the smallest amount of conditioner on my ends. Lastly, I use It's a 10 leave in conditioner, Organix amplifying lotion, and root boost spray. The combo of those products helps my hair stay kind of gritty so I have more texture and my hair isn't overly flat and shiny. :] You have great tips and I'm loving this series xoxo

I have fine straight hair but sooo much if it so people say it's thick even my hair dresser, it took 2 of them to dry it for an hour, I find its kinda best of both worlds because it curls so easily but if I want to let it air dry it's easy to manage rather than course hair which might need some tlc, (not that I'm hating on other hair types) just personal experience obviously, my hair is pretty long (reaches the bottom of my back) so I find using products for fine hair are best because of the weight of it already and I want as much volume as possible at the roots of my hair: L

Everyone in the comments like your hair is thick not fine thin and fine are not the same thing. I have extremely thick hair, but it is very fine. Fine hair slips out of buns, ponytails, braids, etc a lot easier and tends to be smoother but tangles a lot faster. I have trouble putting my hair into buns because it just slips right out, and i have to tie my hair ties super tight to get pony tails to stay in. Also its usually harder to curl your hair because it just falls right out and doesnt hold.

I wish I had been able to watch this video back in high school One time I was at a friend lake house and we had gone out on the boat and my hair was a tangly mess. I went into the shower without detangling and the water pressure was awful so washing it made it even worse. When I finally brushed all the tangles out I lost so much hair that it was noticeably thinner. I cried I was so upset NEVER LET YOUR TANGLES BUILD UP

Great tips. For those viewers who do not think KM has fine hair, it is because she is practicing what she is preaching. Granted, there may be viewers that have finer & thinner hair. There are videos out there addressing severely thin hair with tips how to style it. Tinted dry shampoos do not only add texture, but have the added benefit of 'filling-in' where the scalp shows too much. Wishing you well beauties.
