I'm finally getting curtain bangs! Time to ring in the new year with a new haircut and color and I'm taking you along to see what I asked for and how it turned out. kind of. Sipu97: I just had my hair cut about 15-40 cm and with layers for the first time in years. I'm still getting used to it, the front pieces are so short for me and the volume is fantastic: D My hair was to my lower back and now it's so much lighter. I can wear a ponytail for hours without a headache now! I'm still missing the actual thickness of the previous hairstyle and how all of the hair was the same length. Braids were much easier to do, but on the other hand, now I can make curls so much easier. It'll be interesting to see, how the hair starts to grow out of the style in the coming months

Any great stylist is all about those tiny changes that is needed to get a Happy client!
Ive been a stylist for 25 years, and I ve said the exact same thing that your stylist said today, to every single client through the years.
And I NEVER charge for changes that need to be made because of simple things like this.
and on top of that I never charge for cutting bangs, but I don t advertise about it either, so it s a service I do for my regulars!
I ve always been a make great hair that lasts a while kinda stylist, so even my regular color clients can go longer between services.

Kayley, how dare you leave us on a cliff hanger! I wanna see the final result! So excited! I finally decided to cut my bangs (like, blunt skimming the eyebrows bang) which I haven't had since I was probably in second grade. But I'm excited for the journey. I just really need a new cut, new me for this year. You also inspired me to cut my very first long bob and I loved that journey, too! Now I'm just waiting for my hair to grow out of that awkward not-long-bob-but-not-medium-length so I can cut my bangs! Thanks for making me brave enough to change up my hair!

THANK GOODNESS you re going to get these fixed, those are face framing layers, not curtain bangs. In fact, they re barely that, they re just bits of hair that are slightly shorter than the rest of your hair.
To be honest, I am always really wary about going back to the same hair stylist when they miss the mark so much, e. g in this case I m worried about the hair stylists understanding of the style and if she really knows what curtain bangs are (and therefore how to cut them)

What colour did your stylist use to get the dimension in your hair? I ve tried showing my stylist photos and explaining what I want but just never seem to get there. your colour base/highlights are what I ve been trying to get to. What combination of colour/formula did she use so that I can specifically ask for it when I m back in the salon in a few weeks?

I'm so bad at just putting up with it I've had bad experiences with my hair and find it hard to trust anyone. I'm still to find my hair stylest. I wanted curtain bangs just over a week ago and came away with face shaping layers around my face instead really wasn't what I wanted but I will try again in a few weeks.

How on earth does your hair look so perfect after just putting it in a low pony? My hair basically looks the same (length wise) right now because I'm growing out my bangs and I can NOT make it look good in a low pony. Or any other hairstyle really. It's frustrating AF!

You can get the true curtain effect you re looking for with a hot brush. I know it s still heat but maybe not as damaging as a curling iron. Just FYI! But you always look lovely with your hair no matter what you do! happy new year!

My front bits of hair were cut wayy too short for my liking and I kind of hate it on me (awful hairdresser) - now that I see your first reveal I did not realize that this trend is called curtain bangs: D Guess I have curtain bangs

Letting your stylist know if you don t like something is crucial for growth. I m training as a beauty therapist and I get annoyed when people tell me that they like the work but don t seem happy. I can t learn otherwise!
