So getting curtain bangs did not go as planned I can t believe how botched they ended up but I am using this to have a very human moment with you guys and talk through how to deal with a bad haircut. We have all been there, so let me know your worst haircut story / what helped you get through it!

I'm feeling a bit similar right now. I asked for a shorter hair cut (it's still considered long) with layers that aren't short and I got what I wanted and it looked so gooood afterwards. However, it looks amazing only when it's curled and curling it is so easy and fast now because the hair is shorter. I don't know if it's my hair (it's pretty thick) or the hair cut but the layers are quite obvious when the hair is straight. And I've had that problem before as well, but it's been maybe 10 years since I last had layers so. :D
I love the volume this cut gives my hair but the cut is in v shape (I wanted more u shape) so the lowest lengths aren't as full, which is a bum because I love braiding and this makes it hard. I'd love to have a haircut that allows me to keep my hair lower than my midback, all in one length or in u shape, with lots of volume and easy to style.
I think once the ends don't look as sharp, they'll start to blend in more and make the straight hair version look better. But there's still the issue of braid thickness so I think I'll have to see in the coming months if I want to continue having layers or try the u shape without layers: )

Once I got a botched balayage job on my hair and I went through all of those stages in a 1 hour span! As soon as I saw my hair dried I genuinely wanted to cry, but I had to suck it up due to my social anxiety (plus the hairdresser was a bestie s mother who had done the same job before on my hair and looked GORGEOUS, by the time I arrived home I had gone through all of them and went back to the denial stage so I straight up washed my hair (I guess I thought it would come out somehow? I don t even know) and went to my usual hairdresser for help, but I still had to wait for two or three days with a botched hair job so I just fully embraced multiple braided hairstyles to make it work until I got it fixed. In the end, physically I was fine, but emotionally I was bruised.
I m sorry that happened to you, specially being a haircut, but either way you look gorgeous with bangs! Lots and lots of love x

I got some highlights last month after watching your video and even after asking several times to my hairdresser that I would like to go two shades lighter, my hair ended up looking golden blonde (my hair is brown. I think that my mistake is that I keep going to hairstylists in Mexico and I am not always sure how to translate your tips. I showed pictures, but oh well haha. In the end I found out that the color made my features look softer and the hairstyles I try show up beautifully. I am still planing to go back and have my hair colored a little bit darker. I am new with this so lets see what happens. Hair grows and for now I will make the best of my color.
By the way, you look great with curtain bangs, but I understand the feeling of a bad haircut. I can't wait to see you with the curtain bangs that will make you feel happy: ) Thank you for the video and tips.

I've had several stylists mess up over the years but I'm way too non confrontational to ever go back and say that I didn't like their work. Plus at that point they've usually completely destroyed my trust so I wouldn't even want them touching my hair ever again. The last time it happened I asked my stylist for balayaged highlights and halfway through she mentioned how this was going to be such a great learning experience for her as she'd never done them before! Like girl I did NOT agree to be your guinea pig! Needless to say they were soo bad but luckily I was able to find another stylist in my small town who is absolutely amazing to fix them. But yeah, even though the first stylist had done really nice work with foiled highlights in the past I never went back.

I was a kid in the 1970 s and I remember in second grade, age 7, my friend getting on the bus and punching me in the arm because I didn t notice she had gone and had her bangs feathered over the weekend. A seven year old kid has that fine, Virgin hair that won t easily respond to any styling without some work, and hers was thick and straight. It hadn t been styled or curled, and so it just looked like two heavy wedges on the sides of her forehead. Not light feathers blending back into her hair a la Charlie s Angels. I lied so she didn t punch me again. She punched hard.
I always feel like it takes a week or two to get used to a haircut, even if it s just re-shaping and trimming the same thing I usually have done. And I love the curtain bangs on you.

Things like this can be absolutely devastating. I was trying to grow out my natural colour (waist lenght hair) from the bleached blonde, I was successfully doing it for 3+ years and more tjan half my hair was my natural colour (i got balayage so it looked natural) and then one trip to a very reputable hairstylist left me devastated, instead of toning he used hardcore bleach all over my hair (assured me it was a toner) and I left extremely yellow, with horrible botched higlights and mismatch haircut. I lost all my 3+ years of progress, my hair was in awful condition due to bleach and I had to keep bleching for basically a year to get it even. And now finally I'm able to start the growing out process once again. I'm still so so mad!

In August I got a haircut I asked for 2 inches off the bottom and light SUPER long layers ( maybe a few inches) above the natural length ( my hair was down to my hip when straight) He was super rough with me. I sat in the chair for two hours watching him instead out brushing out my tangles he cut them out. I got in the car and bawled for two days. Go back to the beginning and see what I asked for. He cut 5 INCHES OFF MY LENGTH and Layers UP TO MY EARS ALL OVER not one piece of my hair was the same length. It is a year and a half later and it is just now getting to wear I wanted it. Disclaimer: I was 12 years old I didn t know how to speak up for myself. I never went back to that same place again.

When I was a broke college kid living on campus, I would get my hair cut at a hair school nearby for super cheap and I went there once and they were like there's a huge hole in your hair. Who cut your hair last time? I'm like, you guys did. I have only been coming here for my hair cuts. They truly did not believe me, but honestly I put faith in them because even though students cut your hair, they have a mentor/stylist watch and approve it afterwards, so I don't know how I ended up with that hole in my hair. Luckily it was in the back and I honestly didn't even notice until she said something. Bless now, many years laters because I know have an amazing stylist who never disappoints me.

Ahhh Kayley Melissa being real af for 10 minutes and 55 seconds! I just feel so SEEN right now!
(P. S. I thought I was the only one who went through the stages of grief after a bad cut/colour and then my bff had a bad experience and I realised it happens to a lot of people. I think part of it is also managing your expectations going in. People are not perfect and communication is not always perfect but if it's really not right then you should go back. my friend has also been back to the salon to ask how they styled her hair because she couldn't get her bangs (we call it a fringe) to work)

Ah the age old question. how to break up with your hairdresser?
I had a very similar situation recently with my bang pieces. The front was SO long. I wanted face framing and she basically cut two pieces of my bang area and they were uneven. I love my hairdresser for color but oh man. I never know what I'm getting into when she cuts it.
This isnt for everyone but I recently gave myself bangs with a razor and they came out exactly how I envisioned. Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands. but I wish finding a good hairdresser wasn't such a feat.
