I heard about this technique being done in Japan and thought that it sounded really cool, so I decided to give it a whirl. I love freehand painting and two of my favourite techniques are aquarelle and one stroke. Acrylic paint is so versatile you can create two distinct design by how much water you add. First I am going to lay down a metallic gel polish background, actually, it's a hybrid polish so it'll cure without a lamp. just give it some heat (like a hairdryer) and it'll dry even faster. The metallic is going to contrast so well with the paint. Make sure you lay down a glossy top coat for the metallic, or it won't be as metallicy (is that even a word. some many people make that mistake, so don't be one of them. Topcoat your metallic and then buff it, it's much easier to paint on a buffed surface, if it's too shiny, the paint will slip and slide. after you've done your artwork, just give it another top coat which will bring out the shine of the metallic again

Happy New Year Kirsty and your team Wishing you all the best this year has to offer Love this tutorial, so beautiful Just completed an acrylic overlay and an aquarelle using your tutorials, was my first time trying acrylic overlay, well any acrylic nail product for that matter Lol Im a complete amateur as Im learning at home with cheap products until I retire in a couple years and can take a course. Need to be licensed so I can buy professional products, and get practice in a professional setting. Your never too old to learn something new The Aquarelle turned out stunning Thanks to wonderful people like you I should be well practiced by the time I go to school THANK-YOU SOOOO MUCH to your awesome self

That's really lovely. I've finally broken down and bought a set of 48 acrylic paints. What can I say? I got a 50% off coupon for Michaels and took the plunge. I already have a practice nail system on the way. After I get some practice in I'll Tweet you the first one I'm proud of enough to be showing it to the world.

Hey kirsty I'm just curious, during the first part when you switch to the magenta petals. how does it not mess up the green edges when you overlap the magenta? It seems like it would re-wet those edges and mess them up. and likewise with each other color you add, But it doesn't. do you cure in between? Thanks

Ive used the metallics on tack-free top coat (ALWAYS cuz i listen ) and I adore them They are so beautiful and dry ridiculously fast even without a hairdryer. This nail is STUNNING and I cannot wait to try it myself. my one stroke wont be nearly as nice, though, as Im still rubbish at it.

I have watched a zillion of your metallic videos and this is the first time I have heard you say they need to go over a shiny surface. Funny the things you miss. This nail is amazing it looks like fabric. The leaves look like embroidery. Also your nails look like jewelry.
