Its Kirsty and today Im going to show you how to get the perfect smile line using gel polish. Im starting on a white, almond shaped nail. The nail must be perfectly shaped. Then were going to find the middle and place a small mark. Then think about how high the smile line is going to go and then do a straight line horizontally. Then find the half way point on the nail and mark that point, draw two straight lines to match up the two points, creating an A shape on the nail. Round off the corners and then you have the perfect smile line. Do two coats of your base coat across the nail and cure. Take off the sticky layer to get the smile line perfect. Put the white onto backing paper and use a detail brush to make the marks we made before. Then fill in the sections of the smile line before adding in the curves. Cure the nail and then add a second layer of white. Cure and top coat the nail

Kirsty. I'm not no nail technician only what I've learnt from you(simply the best) doing these tubes. My reason for learning is that my daughter 17 yr want' s her nail done all the time, might i say is quite expensive all the time and that's just plain old acrylics. So hence me doing them for her myself. Any way, my question it's? What is the kindest way for her natural nails. It's it tips with overlay? Or sculpting? I've ordered me forms to have a go at doing a Kirsty meakin sculpting nail. Well I'll have a try that is in some fashion. Hehehe

Hi Kirsty: If you and Adam are still taking questions for the Q & A video, heres one. When you reacted to your BirdBox challenge video, you cringed at how much acrylic got on your hands and mentioned that it was super bad for your skin. My question is why is it okay for pedicureists to get it on your skin when they build an extension on or repair a toenail? Try watching a video by Neo Trix on YouTube if you need an example. Thanks for your help

I used to use a dotted tool and it was easy to get a good smile, but I use a smal detailed brush now, it would be helpful if Kirsty would do a smile with normal polish as I struggle and refuse to do them, but would like a good explanation of how to do it. Its easier with gel as you've got time but with polish u haven't.

Good visual for beginners. I find it so much easier and quicker to use the brush of the polish to try and get it as neat as I can and then use a small square nail art brush slightly dampened with alcohol/wipe off solution to swipe any mess and get the smile perfect.

If I was doing that on the fly I would sure enough mess it up but if I took my time and focused, I would be able to do it. Even though it's almond shape it still looks like the front of a ladies dress shoe missing the heal, very chique

My drafting instructor always told us the best way to make a straight line freehanded was to put ur pencil at ur starting point but look at the finish point. Works every time
