Jelly Nail Techniques - Gel Polish vs Acrylic?

we welcome back Vicky from the Pretty Little Claws channel. She is a former student of mine and a great nail tech. Vicky is a lot of fun so make sure you check out the channel. So in the first video with Vicky, we did this same glow in the dark Jelly nail look, but we added the luminous gel polish to the monomer so we ended up with coloured, translucent, glow in the dark acrylic. This time I am going to do the normal, easier way of sculpting out clear gel acrylic nails and then mixing the luminous colours with the urban graffiti top coat. This is easier for two reasons. firstly, you don't need a pot of monomer for each colour. secondly, when your client comes back, you can easily whizz off the design and start again with a clear layer for whatever design you want to do. I am also going to bling these ones up with some of the naio nails crystal and the metal shapes, creating my own art deco look. I hope you enjoy this video and make sure you subscribe to us and Pretty Little Claws and make sure you have the notification bell on and set it to always alert

Long time viewer As someone who as gone to certain kind of shops in the past it has made me leery of E-File when a tech drilled a divot in my nail. It's given me such a phobia that I just do gel polish now and I go to salons that are comfortable using just an emery board. I'm like in my 50's so I prefer a more manageable length as I work on the computer, etc so short'ish is better for me. Even watching you Kirsty use the E-File makes me cringe as I have flashbacks lol. But I LOVE your work You are correct about educating clients. I had to educate myself and learn that cheaper isn't always best as so many of these shops advertise. Most of the time the products used are cheap hence the price. Here in the States there are shops that will do a full set for less that 20 dollars WTH? Warning signs immediately go up for me and I try to tell my friends, to stay away

Last time I went to a salon and had acrylics done, something weird and awful happened. The ring of fire you speak of definitely happened but also, underneath my nail beds burned. It was horrible and I had to go to another salon to get them removed, then had to go to the doctor for antibiotics, steroids, and pain medicine. The worst part? The nail tech kept telling me that I wasn't burning, that it was impossible, that I'm being a baby, but mainly just mocked me about it. I've worn acrylics for years. Never had that happen to me before and I'm terrified to get them done again, in case it happens again. Horrible

I am a dude, but I have noticed though (I get it, an apex adds strength)some lady's just have nails that stick out so far in a vertical sense after they have them done. it is so noticeable that they had them done. I am surprised there hasn't been a material invented to combat this. I wouldn't always be like. hmm lets re-educate your clients. I would re-think or invent a product if they are wanting a more level nail that doesn't have giant bubble in it.

Hi love I think that C-curve thing might be more specific to your country. I live in Canada and I have not seen anybody yet with that kind of pronounced curve. As for the apex, we tend to have them lower, much like your own nails. I love to see you work: you really are creative and you have a fun loving personality I loved to see you interact with your girls: there was love all over your face. Big hugs and keep up the wonderful work

I've been watching you for quite a while now and have always enjoyed your humor along with your teaching and artistry. However, the videos lately have been such a disappointment to me. I am hard of hearing and since y'all have quit putting the closed-captioning on the videos, I don't have a clue as to what is going on. I hope y'all will go back to the captioning.

I know this sounds nuts, but Im so focused on the nails I dont even notice the tattoos. I dont care about them, like they dont bother me. Im just so engrossed with all the nail art and nail application. Ive never wanted acrylic before bc I have great nails, but all those colors and designs. its art. And I want it.

The town I live in nobody does nails with an apex. I have watched a ton of your videos and tell whoever was doing my nails, where is the apex? The nail techs all look at me like I am crazy So now I have started doing my own nails and trying to get the apex just right. I have very flat and flared at the tips nails

Acrylic was originally first made for the dental industry and then once a woman broke a nail at. the dentist and the dentist used acrylic to fix her nail and that's wat started off acrylic for the nail industry. Cant u do the jelly effect by putting drops of gel polish in the monomer? X

Idu. Even if a tip is added, doesnt mean a shape cant be made or apex cant be made. Whats going on in these shops. The way kristy did these nails, she made a gorgeous tip. And gorgeous fullcover nail attached to each finger. It probably was faster th an people who attach tips.
