lulz, the creepiness your man is talking about is the uncanny valley = the closer something non-human gets to looking human, the more unsettling it is for some ppl. it personally doesn't bother me, but for the ppl who don't like it, or didn't like the original 'dark crystal' then i definitely wouldn't expect to change their minds by suggesting they watch 10 more hours of it. just like telling someone who hates clowns they'll change their mind if they just go spend a day at the circus, or ppl afraid of snakes they'll change their mind if they just spend a day at the reptile room at the zoo, etc. we can take their word for it, they just don't like it, period.

Yes. I can't wait to see the part2. I thought about doing fx makeup of a couple characters from the show this October for fun. I'm only 34 but I do remember parts of the movie Dark Crystal from when I was little but had forgotten the name. When I saw it on Netflix, I was immediately drawn to it because something about it seemed so familiar. It wasn't until I called my mom and told her about it and hearing her excitement and that's when i knew it was special. Everything about Dark Crystal is perfect. so happy you're doing this piece.

VFX artist here: The effect Adam is getting freaked out by is called the; Uncanny Valley effect. It's something that happens when artists try and go for realism so much they miss certain aspects of human expression or behavior that makes it look un-natural. The polar express was a huge issue with that because they used actual actors for the movement of the characters and overlay-ed CG characters ontop of them. They process they used was called Mocap, and if done incorrectly can lead to some creepy fx. Cheers

YES Love this and can't wait tti see the finished nail The Dark Crystal was the first movie I can really remember being obsessed with as a kid. I'm soooo happy Netflix has brought out a series for us adults of this age who loved the original movie as kids I do also have to agree with Adam on the Polar Express. I won't watch that movie lol. The way the people are animated is just freaky. They're too real looking but not real enough or something. Idk. They're just freaky. shudder

Oh no I didn't notice the part 1 in the title I ALWAYS wait for all of the parts to be available _before_ I watch any of them Please make sure to give us the rest on Friday because this is going to drive me crazy if I have to wait for Monday. I remember the original Dark Crystal. I don't think I've ever been repulsed by a puppet not changing expressions. It seems rather odd that anyone would expect facial expression changes from a puppet to me.

Kirsty, how do you decide when to use an acid primer vs none acid? Also, does Naio plan to introduce dip acrylic at some point? I have contact dermatitis and cannot use regular monomer or gel anymore I heard you talk about that in one your vids briefly but it was so quick I can't find it again. Does Naio offer some type of hypoallergenic monomer? Please, make me a designated Naio Nails customer luv from Germany, your fan

YAAAASS Kirsty. I agree with you, all that went into the movie and series is outstanding and I definitely appreciate it. The artwork is inspiring and beautiful. It was one of the first things that inspired me to get into art. Its also where I got my love for Amethyst from lol. .. And of course, who doesnt want a Fizgig?

During paint sessions like this, add an additional table sorta like a hospital bedside table that the person in bed puts their dinner on, drinks etc that turns an angle up, n down. So you can reposition it or remove it anytime. You can park it along side you and clients to put drinks on until these.

It looks so intimidating to me when I see the whole nails youve done that are so detailed and complex. But when youve broken it down this way its less intimidating, though I know even if trying a face it will still look like an abstract. But I really enjoy watching you do these kind of nails

Uncanny valley is what is weirding Adam out, especially on the polar express. It's a natural instinct thing where you know it's not real but at the same time it looks real and it just messes with your senses, making you feel uncomfortable Can't wait to see these nails finishedx
