Chrissy Teigen Vs. Dolly Parton: Whose Chicken & Dumplings Are Better?

Maybe you grew up on the humble chicken and dumplings, or maybe not. Dolly Parton and Chrissy Teigen both have excellent chicken and dumplings, but their styles are pretty different from each other. Chrissy makes fluffier dumplings and adds carrots and potatoes to her soup to make it more flavorful. Dolly on the other hand, makes a more classic dumpling that's flatter and sticks to the traditional broth and chicken in her soup. But which is better? s

Okay, gotta go with Dolly's! But, instead of straining out all of the solids, have some finely diced onion and celery. (just leaves can be bitter) Leave these in! also add a bit of parsley and thyme. Paula Deen could use the hint at using a rolling cutter like that when making her Dumplings! No way is the other recipe a real or traditional Chicken and Dumplings. Just too far from what it was and should be. Might be a super great dish. But, stick to the basic definition!

People have to try real chicken and dumplings, especially the rolled kind, not dropped.
Paula Deen makes it with ice water which makes it tough to roll out but very toothsome with a little chew. I always thought the dish was some local yokel grub, but it's not. At all. Really tasty. And the smell is just heavenly.
And I don't even eat chicken. But I'll take the good dumping and broth before my kids gobble it up.

Who wouldn't choose Dolly's Dumplings? LOL seriously that weirdness is because Chrissy out baking soda in the dough. puffs up and gets airy and dry inside when you do that. has to be a dumpling, not a biscuit dough. you can do this with canned ones but it sucks LOL BUT, it's consistent for sure. Biscuits are for sausage gravy w black pepper chrissy! i do like the veggies look though.

Oh my goodness! Never, never, never put potatoes in chicken and dumplings. - And rolled dumplings only! I was raised and taught to cook by my Kentucky born and raised mom. So Dolly's is good there but for a richer flavor I always add carrots, onion and celery to mine but I grate my carrots. I also add a little cream to my broth and parsley for color and presentation.

Chrissy's version has too many ingredients and seems like the flavor of the chicken can get lost.
Dolly's version whilst being traditional actually utilizes each ingredient to its maximum potential, although not as complex a dish as Chrissy's, Dolly's chicken and dumplings would be the winner as each ingredient would shine and not be a muddled mess.

Chicken and dumplings are a working family food. It was meant to make a lot out of a little, so it would very Dolly Parton's is the real deal. Chrissy Tiegen's is great. The difference is Dolly's is traditional and Chrissy's is the chicken and dumplings you get after a pay raise or a bonus because it has more ingredients (vegetables and herbs.

While Chrissy's looked -prettier- Dolly's looked like it tasted better? Haha. The only thing I would have changed about Dolly's is I would add vegetables. That would probably make it perfect for me. Dolly's dumplings also looked better being the more traditional style that I prefer.

Dolly's looks better and is closer to how I grew up making it, but both look too soupy. I like to add cans of cream of chicken soup to make it thicker and more creamy. I also like smaller bite sized dumplings but that's just me.

I don-t put veggies in my chicken and dumplings. I don-t think it belongs. That-s more for chicken noodle soup. I feel like chrissys would be more flavorful then dollys but dollys definitely looks more appealing to eat

First off they screwed up the dumplings in dollys recipe. They rolled them way too thick. They should be rolled much much thinner and cooked for 15-20 minutes until they are slick. 10 minutes isn-t enough time.
