We're not going to lie to you and tell you Tess loves seafood-and Tess isn't about to pretend that gefilte is her favorite Passover tradition; BUT! That won't stop her from making her mother's very famous gefilte recipe. Watch Tess as she shares the history behind the dish and her family's very own. uhm. tradition. of catching live carp and placing them in a bathtub. (We wish we were making this up) If you're not familiar with this traditional Jewish recipe; think of this combination of carp, whitefish, mullet, and pike as a fish meatloaf. Let us know in the comments if you're planning on making this for your Seder!

I always enjoy these videos, but this is probably the first recipe I-ve actually been excited about making. It-s looks like the ideal version of gefilte that I didn-t even know existed.
My first gefilte epiphany came when I tasted my cousin-s former fresh off boat Russian mother-in-law-s version, which was the first time I had it as part of a well emulsified loaf, rather than a coarse meatball.
The next -aha moment- was when I was in London, where I had fried gefilte, with a browned and caramelized exterior.
This version looks like it combines the best of both of those!
My only suggestion would have been to have taken all of the bones and heads and tails and made stock, let it cool in the fridge overnight, then to have served that delicious fish jelly with the loaf!
Also, I think you were being a bit rough on Secaucus. It-s not like it-s reeks like Elizabeth!

Can we petition to have Michael join Tess once it's safe to go back out into the world? I'd love to see the two of them go to a theme park together - Tess will suffer, and Michael will cheer her on. -

First, your gefilte fish looks so much more appetizing than the stuff in the jar. And two, I --REALLY-- want to see you throw fish guts at Trump tower. No seriously, please?

I understand your pain. My aunt makes Gefilte fish with homemade horseradish that will burn your tongue off. I love her cooking but you couldn't pay me to eat it.

-Gefilte fish is if you ever looked at a hotdog and said, I wish all the things in here came from the sea- - I LOST IT. Tess you're a gift to this world thank you

OK, I'm gonna save you from having to put raw meat or fish on your tongue. For every pound of raw meat or fish, one teaspoon of salt. There. Saved you! LOL

Can we get this girl a ticket to Florida? Haven't the parks opened up? If I ate fish I would have eatten your food. It looked good. Lovely colors and texture.

WHY? SAME reason as Shabbos. And- everybody has the same live fish-in-the-tub story. They swam. Killing was done on a table. In a Tub? That's gross.

All I can keep thinking about is that June could feed a family of 4 for about a month on those fish carcasses they threw out.
