What I like to do is make apple sauce and put it in the pie as a base and then put some apple slices mixed with walnuts and breadcrumbs on top of that. It's from one of my Austrian Grandmas ye ol' cookbooks and very yummy: )

I love this. I cook my apples in butter and fresh lemon and orange juice and it's sooo good. It's different, but absolutely amazing and you can use the left over glaze from the pan as a topper for vanilla ice cream!

Goodness, that filling looks scrumptious. However, you say you did it from scratch, but we didn't get to see you make the crust. :( (Let alone invent the universe. Ha. Carl Sagan fans will get that one)

Cayenne pepper is great for inflammation. I put it on just about anything from sweet stuff, sour, meats, not much you can't put it on as long as you can tolerate spices.
