Crime Scene Chicken - Deep Cuts for Max Flavor - Food Wishes

This crime scene chicken looks like it’s been a victim of fowl/foul play, but the technique is much more than just a dramatic presentation. The deep cuts technique is a way to roast chicken that delivers incredible flavor and tender, juicy meat. We went with a Korean barbecue inspired flavor profile, but this will work no matter what you decide to use. Just be sure to splatter the tray with the blood sauce for the full CSI effect.

I'm 65 and realized a few years ago that lining a sheet tray with foil is borderline useless. I just accept that I'll have to use steel wool and a heavy duty scrub pad with Comet abrasive cleanser to clean the sheet pan. Regardless of whether or not I lined the pan with foil. There is only one situation where using aluminum foil on the bottom of the pan makes sense: baking a fruit pie, or anything being baked in another dish that might bubble over onto the sheet pan.

Of course I'm giving it a try, your recipes never disappoint. I've been following for years. I also want to tell you how much I enjoy watching your videos regardless of the recipe. You are unique, so funny and entertaining while you show us great recipes. Thank you for all that!

I believe you once said you are from Buffalo. It would be cool to get more Buffalo-themed recipes (I mean I know this isn't exactly Buffalo Chicken, but it's kinda the fancier cousin. Also, would this work with a thanksgiving turkey

I love how cutting the chicken into deep slices helps all those delicious seasonings soak in and bring out so much flavor! This looks like the kind of recipe that turns a simple chicken dinner into something truly special.

Wrong video, sorry. But here’s a relevant comment. Just made this chicken. It’s pretty darn good. One thing, the sauce is very reminiscent of L&L Hawaiian’s katsu sauce. It’s probably the ketchup.

Martha Stewart has real street cred. Chef John is just an amateur. He served her this dish several times, always forgetting the rice vinegar. Don't be surprised if he winds up swimming with the fishes.

I made this exactly as stated, looked horrific as stated, tasted incredible, my gf shredded the rest of the carcass and took for her work lunch today. hopefully they don't suspect any. fowl play.

Confuse your family on a random weeknight, then confuse the cops at the interrogation. Acquittal! This is a refreshing spooky food option when we are all so sick of seeing mummy hotdogs.

Open a new tab and play death metal while watching this. It really adds to the theme!
Now that I think about it, I'll play some Exhumed when I serve this to my unsuspecting dinner guests.

I have a Springer Mountain chicken in the fridge. I think I will cold smoke it and then proceed to this recipe. I think the smoking will combine beautifully with this flavor profile.

That looks delicious.
I wonder, though, if spatchcocking the chicken would help or hinder the technique. What type of changes would have to be made in the roasting temp and time

Just like Chef John's advice on how to cut your chicken, remember if you have a baseball bat in your trunk include a ball and/or glove. Your lawyer will thank you.

Uhmm the voice and high pitch at the end of each sentence has become way worse than when I started watching these videos. This just has become annoying. I can't handle it

Chef John, my dad is adamant that the knife you use at the end is a folder. I am not convinced it is but I could be wrong. Could you help squash this beef

Scary! My preferred blood basting uses chipotle pepper paste and pomegranate molasses: it adds more rusty undertones, and is pretty darn tasty too XD

I love that he does something like this every year. Being an amazing chef doesn't mean you have to be pretentious. Chef John is proof of that

I love how ProTip has caught on to the point that way more people are using it as slang now than who actually know where it originated.
reply

What actually happened is that a chicken pissed Chef Jon off, he accidently took off its wingtip and he is now covering up his tracks

Guys if this man invited you to a remote island with the promise of serving you a very exclusive and lavish meal, just say no.
reply

I bought a set of Laguiole knives having not known anything about them and seeing Chef John have them makes me unreasonably happy.
