Learn how to make Kaya toast with Lynn Chen! (you might recognize her from the film Saving Face or from Law and Order: SVU) Full Kaya Toast recipe at I met Lynn Chen recently and as it turns out, we have more than laughing really really loud in common. We also both love delicious food. (You can read about our lunch together here on her blog, TheActorsDiet. When I asked if she'd like to be a guest on my show, she was super excited about sharing her version of kaya toast, a Southeast Asian snack I'd never heard of. Fortunately for you and me and everyone around us, kaya toast is super easy to make at home as long as you have the kaya jam

Great job there Lynn introducing Kaya to the world! Here in Singapore we don't quite eat it like that. We have the bread toasted first then spread it with kaya next a small slice of butter sandwhiched between the two slices of bread. We will have the toast with soft-boiled eggs usually cooked in boiling water for about 5mins and then we add pepper and soya/dark sauce to the eggs, dip the toast into it and eat them together. But your way seems legit too! Cheers to awesome food!

Hilah's -childish- behaviour just doesn't fit anymore. I mean, she's not that young as she was when she started making her videos. Now she has gotten so old and she is a mom. So behave like that, I mean, behave appropriate to your age. You're not 20. She wants to be cool but her way of talking is nothing but ridiculous and silly.

I have been frequenting an international market we have where I live, I bet I can find that soy sauce and jam there. Hmmm I know what I m trying this weekend! Thanks Hilah and Lynn! Looks tasty! My expression looked much like Daisys did as I watched this but I drooled more ( i love the sweet and savory stuff)

Well, I live in Malaysia and I never eat Kaya toast like this. but i guess it depends on how you like it.
as for me, kaya toast usually just 2 slice of bread, toast it and then spread kaya on 1 bread and butter on the other bread, then combine it together. eat it with warm coffee or warm milo. yum!

-Jackson Pollack over there with your soy sauce! - Hilarious! Jackson Pollack is one of my favorite artists and I like it that he is referenced in humorous terms. Also, that is an interesting recipe and your friend seems super cool too!

What an interesting blend of flavors. I just had an egg sandwich for lunch. My special blend of flavors was salt, pepper and ketchup! I will have to get out of my rut and try your Kay Toast recipe!

Kaya toast withOUT small cold slabs of butter sandwiched in between? And served with a sunny side-up egg on top of it with kicap soy sauce?
That's Kaya toast blasphemy! -

Looks great. What does Kaya Jam taste like? (yeah, yeah, it tastes like Kaya Jam) I make stuffed French toast with whatever jam I have handy (including cranberry sauce)

When I saw the thumbnail I thought this was a grilled cheese with a fried egg on top and worcester sauce. which sounds delicious actually, think I might make that
