I have been following you since years ago, but honestly I have never made any of your recipes. I'm on the other side of the world and some of the ingredients are just too hard to find. Still I watch your videos because I just enjoy very much watching you and giggling hearing your puns. Hope you'll never stop

Hey, this is just my kind of recipe, I'm a broke-ass student and a sack of taters is cheap nuff. I can prep a bunch too and just smash and bake em off for my dinner as needed. If mine come out as beautiful and tasty as you claim, this'll definitely be a good alternative to rice or beans as sides.

I was about to be legit upset that there was no gravy. Then there was gravy and Chef John and I are cool again. insert imaginary sequence where he and I exchange finger guns like we've been dads on the same block for years.

A question that has bugged me forever Why, don't people season the surface of the object that they are putting on a said product first? Looks like that would lead less cross-contamination. am I wrong Chef John?

Oh, Chef John, you are speaking my language. The smashed potatoes I've made up until now pale in comparison - literally. These are going into the rotation, hopefully beginning on Thanksgiving day. Thank you

Who wants to wait two days for potatoes. Boil em, smash em, throw them right in the hot box. Works just as well. Although the slicing around the edge is a good idea. gonna try that before the boil next time.

You are, after all, the Jedi Master, of using a sheet panto cool your potatoes much faster. But- Master Yoda, after all, you are not, if your fingers you do burn, transferring spuds from the pot.
