Part THREE in my series showing you how to shop in a Korean grocery store! This time we learn about Korean noodles, powders, grains, beans, and seaweed. worship: i think korean curry is instant like that because it was introduced during japanese imperialism by the japanese. and since instant curry was popularized in japan before that, they just pretty much brought it over. you could make it from scratch, but it wouldnt have the same taste, even if it might be more sophisticated.

It's wild that american grocery stores contain foods that are soaked in liquids and preservatives while asian markets rely on no preservatives (i'm guessing) and just drying them out.

What is the difference between chili pepper powder and chili flakes? Can I use the chili powder for kimchi instead of chili flakes?
