Territy Bazar is an amazing Chinese Indian street food market in Kolkata. When you're in Kolkata, and if you love food, don't miss it When I first arrived in Kolkata (Calcutta, I was rather surprised that not much was open earling in the morning. I went out looking for something to eat and could only find a few stalls selling chai and bread, but nothing more substantial to eat for breakfast. So when I heard about the Territy Bazar, that opened very early in the morning and finished at about 10 am, I was excited. At about 7 am I caught a taxi from Sudder street, where I was staying, to the Territy Bazar in Kolkata - it was about a 10 minute ride or so. The bazar market is located on Sun Yat Sen and not in Chinatown like I had thought it would be. Territy Bazar is a Chinese market, though you'll find all sorts of Indian things there as well, but the main cooked food is all Chinese influenced. Upon arriving, I was just amazed, there were so many different things available and all spread out along the street. At the entrance there were plenty of vegetable and fruit vendors and as I made my way into the Territy Bazar there was more and more cooked food. My first stop was with a man that was serving steamed dumplings. Though I wanted to eat his boazi, steamed Chinese buns filled with pork, he was out that day and only had fish balls and fried pork momos. Both of what he was serving that day came piping hot and were served with a lovely chili sauce that was delicious. After the momos, I headed over to eat a bowl of soup filled with fish ball on the corner. They even had a small table where you could rest your bowl and eat your soup. Since it was a cold morning in Kolkata, the soup was incredible After dining on the delicious Chinese Indian breakfast in Kolkata I took quite a while to browse around the highly interesting Territy Bazar and saw fish vendors, fruit sellers, a crew butchering pigs, and a host of other fresh market vendors. On my way out of the bazar I decided to polish off my delightful Kolkata style breakfast with a fresh coconut. Though it wasn't a very good coconut, it wasn't very sweet, it still was a great finish to a good time at Territy Bazar. If you visit Kolkata, India, you have to wake up early one morning and head to the bazar for a lot of interesting sights and some good food Be sure to check out my full list of Kolkata street food here: and my Kolkat travel guide here

Visited this place in July 2017 and tried each thing he tried in the video. Its a rip off now, maybe it was good back in 2013 but not now, the momos have more onion and less meat, fish ball soup and meat ball soup both have no noticable meat and after eating all this stuff I got my stomach upset, I saw many newbies there coming with cameras because the hype on youtube, please avoid, you will get the same food almost all over Kolkata at similar price now days.

Who else finds this very odd and disgusting compared to all the other apetizing videos? Im Indian, but im in Mizoram. I studied in kolkata and i never go out because im afraid of their behaviours, too many frauds and i kno there are good people too. But its those bad people who are the cause of inability to socialize as much as we do in our hometown. Well never meet the good people because of them. Im always paranoid while i was there.

Say what you will about hygiene, but it's thanks to that that Indians and others in the 3rd world have better immune systems. On the other hand, people I work with in the U. S. grow up and live in sterile environs, everything has to be antibacterial, scared to touch doorknobs. The result? They are constantly knocked sick by the slightest bug and develop allergies to everything under the sun.

I am of Indian ancestry and have heard of the legendary filthiness of my people, this video, as any video about Indian street food, seems to confirm that. My goodness Just look at how they are preparing that pig carcass This guy has been to Thailand and Vietnam but India, quite predictably, seems to me like the most foul place he's visited.

Mark, have you ever worried about the hygiene of all the local places you ate? Some local markets you visited did not look clean at all, I am sure for the locals will be fine but for the tourists, might be a problem for eating their food.

Can you please give more in depth details about what you are tasting, so that your audience will able to imagine the taste of the food that you are eating instead of just saying vague statements. just a suggestion from an audience member. :)

This part of Calcutta is filthy because of once tanneries were located here where mostly chinese people used to work and no Indians would go there. After chinese left, every govt and even local people would avoid going to that area.
