Songkran is Thai New Years, which takes place every year from April 13 - 15. Its one of the most important periods of time in Thailand and the most celebrated holiday of the year. Its a time when friends and family get to together to spend time with each other, eat, bless each other, and enjoy one of the biggest water fights in the world This year I decided to spend the first day of Songkran in Bangkok, on a Thai street food water fight tour of Bangkok. After getting dressed in my Songkran flower shirt, which Im pretty happy about, we jumped on the BTS and headed to Sala Daeng station, Silom. Silom is known to have one of the best walking street water fights during Songkran in Bangkok. It was busy, but theres a lot of space as well. As for Thai food during Songkran, if youre having a family meal, you might have a nice seafood meal, but when youre water fighting, probably the favorite quick meal on the go during Songkran is khao kai jeow ) - 30 THB (0. 96, a Thai omelet over rice. And we found the perfect hilarious man making omelets that puffed up to inner tube. I still dont know how he did that Sai krok Isaan ) - 10 THB (0. 32) - After some more water fighting in Silom, we ate some sai krok Isaan, sausage. Khao San Road ) - One of the most famous places to play water in Bangkok during Songkran in Khao San Road, and when we arrived there in the middle of the afternoon, it was hectic and packed, and pretty fun as well. Khanom jeen nam ya kati ) - 40 THB (1. 28) - On this Thai street food water fight Songkran 2018 tour, we stopped to eat khanom jeen nam ya kati, a fish and coconut milk curry served over soft rice noodles. It was pretty awesomely good, especially with some extra chilies and lemon basil. Shawarma - 100 THB (3. 20) - After walking playing water on Khao San Road for a little while, we decided to try the shawarma at the front of the road. At first I didnt order cheese, but when I saw she busted out the blowtorch, I needed it. Not the greatest shawarma, but it tasted pretty good at that time and place. Cha yen ) - 20 THB (0. 64) - Finally to end this Thai street food tour of Bangkok Songkran, we had a cha yen from a friendly man at the front of Khao San Road. Wishing you and your family a Happy Songkran, Thai New Year, and all other New Year celebrations in this region of the world 2018

Mark Wiens we would like to thank you for tipping us on Soei and Jay Fai, we had an amazing experience at both places The food was unbelievably good And the staff were super friendly We had dinner at Soei the 12th of april. For me the soft shell crab curry was the best dish and for my friend the pad woon sen. Amazing balance of flavors and the shrimps were cooked to pertfection And had dinner at Jay Fai the 13th of April (omg the crab omelette. After enjoying the food at Jay Fai with a nice Singha beer, we walked towards Khao San road with our freshly bought waterguns and dived into the Songkran madness What an amazing party Thank you for the inspiration Mark Truly experiences we will never forget Kaw khun Khrap. see our story on instagram blaisse1980 and trassietekkie

Looks so fun When I was there visiting my family with my partner who's Australian, I didn't want to take him to Khao San or silom because I kept hearing that it was hectic and waaaay too muddy. My partner ended up actually disliking the entire festival but loving the food. So we didn't participate as much as we wanted to. Just wish he was able to understand the fun and holiness of the festival like you guys D:

Marks videos make me so sad to be american. You cant water fight here. You cant sell street food here unless u are a up to code hotdog stand. To many rules here stops us americans from having fun like this. Dont get me wrong, I love a lot of things about america. We just need to loosen up and let it be.

No offense, but can't you do some videos without all the chit chat? I watched a few videos with out any dialogue, and it's nice to hear more of the sounds of what's going on in the background. Those videos got 3 million plus views. Maybe you can try that sometime.

You are probably the most enthusiastic Thailand fan I have ever seen. And you back it up like a real Thai - you eat all the time 555. I enjoy your videos. I will be in Thailand for songkran this year, now I consider spending it in Bangkok: -)

If I had to go for holiday, Thai will be my deffinate destination Damn Egypt. It's a horrible country indeed. If you're smart enough to elude the thefts in Egypt you can't elude the poisonous food. Love Thai, it's definitely my next destination.
