Watch Part 2: In the MUNCHIES Guide to Oregon, host Gabi Chai traverses the state to uncover the natural culinary bounty of the state of Oregon. Overflowing with great wine, coffee, food trucks, seafood, and more strip clubs per capita than any city in the world, this gem of America-s Pacific Northwest is just begging to be explored. Gabi kicks off her journey with a caffeinated history lesson about coffee and Portland from Duane Sorenson-founder of Stumptown Coffee Roasters-before popping next door to his restaurant, The Woodsman Tavern, to partake in another Oregon specialty: a tower of fresh-caught seafood. She also eats her way through a few of Portland-s 600 food trucks to understand the regional phenomenon that has created an entirely new dining scene. And no visit to Portland is complete without a meal prepared by Gabriel Rucker, the 2011 James Beard Award Rising Star Chef of the Year and 2013 Best Chef: Northwest-we get the VIP treatment and enjoy a home-cooked meal with Gabriel and his family. The thing is Portland is naturally hipster but the good kind of hipster. All the negative types of hipsters are just people from out of state trying to emulate Portlanders. In Portland the term Hipster is much more specific and considered distasteful more than it is in other states. Also the negative hipsters are the ones inviting tons of people to Oregon. Oregonians have traditionally been kind and generous to outsiders but when it comes to them trying to live here we strongly discourage it. The state lines used to have signs that read something like this. -Thank you for visiting Oregon. Please do not stay-. Even my grandfather when talking to friends and family on the phone would lie to them about how horrible Oregon was and how it rained all the time. The reason was that Oregon is full of moderates who watched as every other state destroyed there own paradises. Take California for example they have run their state into the ground and they are running out of water. We do not want that to happen to Oregon and population booms is a real cause of this type of destruction. Of course the hipsters from out of state do not understand this.

Please cover the issue of the violent spike of gentrification in Portland and the displacement of Black and artist culture in the past 5 years! It's pretty irresponsible to cover Portland and not really show our homeless and heroin crises- its so omnipresent you'd have to edit it out- you are reporting on a Portland that doesn't exist anymore.

Why does the bulk of Portland food look like it came out of someone's garbage can? That crap they ate -- the stuffed squid -- was possibly the least appetizing thing I've ever viewed. --And, by the way, I've lived in Portland most of my life. It's getting harder and harder to find a nice slab of rare beef and a baked tater in these parts.

Portland looks like a great place to visit even with the hipsters. You know you have a great city when even the hipsters won't keep people out. That and the fact that the outdoors of Oregon are second to none in the world. --Also, stop commenting on the host and her perceived drug use. You never know who has or hasn't used them.

Respectfully, this lady is not from Portland, so she is not and cannot possibly be an expert on our food scene. Also, she's irritating as hell, and may be a meth addict. Sincerely, a Portlander. PS-Even Portlanders are ashamed of the hipsters. Oh, and Extracto is tastier than Stumptown. That is all.

This is legitimately the only episode I could stand to watch with this awful host and that's only because i'm passionately in love with anything Stumptown. Please use a different host next time Munchies, it'll make watching something like this a bit more bearable.

If you come to Portland, make sure to stop by the food carts on 12th and Hawthorne. The Creperie is pretty fantastic, but imo, the Potato Champion beats it all. Go there and pick yourself up some dank Peanut Butter Jelly Fries. no regrets, promise.

I love this host Gabi Chai! She has the ability to have class at the wineries and get down to party at strip clubs! She is up there with matty mathison and Thomas Morton.

Whatever he made from the Asian restaurant looked like a total bust except the fried rice seemed tolerable but who knows maybe it did work, but imo I doubt it----Asian guy.
