Those guys are having way too much fun. I'm jealous! --The laser's exact method of heating is making me curious though. If I lined a pastry with layers of sugar between layers of cake, would the laser caramelize the sugar layers accurately and evenly? Could it be controlled enough to prevent bitterness while producing an even caramel? Would it fuse the layers or separate them? How large portions could I fuse? --My imagination is now restless. The sheer plurality of possible new forms achievable by a new form of cooking is a rare treat.

I admire the shit out of Asian culturals. Smartest people around. My hypothesis is that it's a byproduct of the eternal strive to improve everything you do no mater how small or trivial may seem.

Did this need to be 15 minutes long? I think they could have been like, -We're gonna cook this slice of bacon with a laser cutter. OK now we taste it! - The End. 90 seconds.

I feel like this is an incredibly efficient way to cook. All the energy is directed in the meat. No radiating pan, no steam, no fumes. What do you think?
reply

You must use a much higher power laser and a warping (in the fashion of phase conjugation) mirror to project laser radiation onto all of the fat at once.

-That's a typical problem of laser cooking-, yes I'm sure we've all experienced this whilst cooking bacon with our big ass laser in our kitchen
