I've been looking for a simple sweet spiced bread/ hot cross bun style bread recipe cos I can't find the one I used to use. shoulda looked here first lol. I've always loved hot cross bun spices, but not keen on raisins and peel, so MY hot cross buns ( and at other times of the year they're just as good) have dark chocolate chunks and dried apricots, and are brushed with sugar syrup for that shiny sticky finish. yummmm guess what I'm making on the weekend: ) thanks guys

i think it's cool that they don't make or have to make such a big fuss about that Tesco collab, no annoying product placement and no tesco this tesco that, so thumbs up for Sorted and also for Tesco: )

I know Helvetica, every recipe I ever read says put a spoon of sugar in the liquid, you can watch it bubble up, but what do I know? I just thought he forgot to add it and did it later

Haha, in the US we learn the hot cross buns song growing up, but we don't have them here so I've lived 21 years without actually knowing what hot cross buns actually are

I didn't know the cross was piped flour and water. Where I'm from after its baked you usually pipe vanilla royal icing and glaze with a honey & water mixture

I've never had hot cross buns, or know any traditions about them. Perhaps when I get a suitable kitchen and kitchen tools, I will be able to make them

Hey guys, why do you never use fresh yeast? I personally prefer it to dried yeast and I've never seen you use it, any particular reason why?
