I love love love the idea of having a base recipe and throwing things in as you feel like it. I have a recipe and my mom and brother found it so great that they're always asking me to make it when I visit. It surprised me when I first made it because I didn't think they would love it as much as they did. Also, absolutely adore being able to see Jamie's family It sometimes shocks me when I recall when they first started out because the years don't seem to have passed that quickly!

Ben eagerly taking over cooking so he doesn't have to deal with the baby is incredibly relatable. A few years back I was over at a neighbor's house while her daughter and baby granddaughter were there. Everyone except me was having a blast playing with the baby and I was just awkwardly sitting there wishing I were anywhere else. Thankfully, someone asked for help with their computer and my immediate response was: Oh thank God, something I know how to deal with.

Theres no point in cooking if you are just going to blindly follow a recipe. Recipes cant account for your kitchen equipment or personal tastes or budgets.
I say if you see a recipe but dont have all the ingredients see if you can substitute those ingredients you do have. No need to go out and buy more groceries for no reason.

Like I said I wish you guys would do something with jiffy cornbread mix it's a southern thing I think I'm not sure but it's so good I eat myself sick I don't even like sweets but it makes a sweet cornbread and I do mean literal sweet

I've been going back to watch older videos, hence why I am commenting on a year old video, but a bit of dark chocolate in chili is amazing! I would say it's effect is subtle, but very good!

Looks pretty good, I liked the tip for cooking the mince! But he kinda lost some credibility when his signature recipe started to include random sauces from his fridge: D

My family adds sweet corn sauteed with bell peppers, gives it a kind of sweet tex mex crunch, which was perfect when we were kids and couldn't handle anything spicy.
