Taste and the audience is king. Ben played to the judges tastes and it paid off. James dish definitely belongs to a posh high end restaurant but he did use more flavors that are an acquired taste. Ultimately Ben elevated a common snack to epic proportions with his chef skills and broad vision and James used more unique and experimental ingredients to craft a masterpiece for the eyes. Bravo to both! Wish I could taste em.

I really wish they would get judges with. finer. palettes in for the Chef vs Chef battles. Ben will usually have the edge because he mostly makes things that are a variation on familiar British foods. As much as I love Mike and Baz, they and Jaime don't venture out far enough from the tried and true (so very English of them) for James to get a fair shake.
