I love the show in general, but curveballs seem detrimental to the players more at random than not, making it unfair. Then again the home cooks abilities differ as well, so I'm coming to realize they've discussed it and probably came to the conclusion that it's worth it for the sake of entertainment. I just feel bad for them, not being allowed to prepare the dish they had in mind to the best of their ability (and that's what I'd like to see.
Ps. Though I'm sticking to what I said, that Good I have reserve bread (paraphrasing) bit killed me

Honestly, so sad. Only Barry used the correct meat which should be shaved while still partially frozen. Should be on a hard Italian roll. Philly would never call it a sub roll, because it's correct name is a hoagie roll. And not toasted but potentially placed on the grill. Fried onions and cheese are the most popular toppings, mushrooms up next. I know, everyone is a critic. But Philly people are very loyal to our cheesesteaks sandwiches. (Cheesesteak hoagies have lettuce, tomato, and onion) Nonetheless, still love the videos

After having finished watching their failure to replicate the simple perfection that is the Philly cheesesteak, Im surprised by the gall it takes to presume they understood the initial concept well enough to experiment with it.
Its like an art student who hasnt mastered still life one day just starts going all Picasso with rearranging body parts. Master the basics, then maybe youll be qualified to take it to the next level. But not yet, boys. Not yet.

My Philadelphia soul.
Boys before you do a battle where its signature dish of a region, you should visit that area. Historic Philly, REAL Cheesesteaks, and Reading Terminal. Amazing place really,
While youre at it feel free to travel to Amish country - visit Shady Maple Smorgasbord, enjoy a whoopie pie -
Then head over to Hershey, PA and enjoy Hotel Hershey hot chocolate.

If Barry hadn't won that, I would have rioted. Mike made a french dip. Jamie made Korean BBQ on a roll, though he used the proper cheese. Everything except the cheese, and the replacement bread that Barry used, was perfect. Life time Philadelphia resident. Good job Barry.

WOW in what alternative world i am now? Barry not only won the battle when steak was involved, but actually adhered to brief and didnt pull any weird twists? I mean its Baz, it could have ended with cheescake.

Mike just made the same cheese sauce my mom has made for years to put over broccoli (except for the onion, nutmeg, and bay leaf. It's basically a cheese and milk gravy.

Is it a curveball when one cook gives up rosemary and uses chili flakes and the guy who gets the rosemary doesn't use it and nobody mentions it?
