10 Must-Try Foods In Puerto Rico MemerMeme: I really miss PR I grew up on the island for a couple years before we moved around (military brat) and I miss the island and my familia so much my mom was supposed to make pernil for thanksgiving but she changed her mind so now shes gonna make it for Christmas and while Im really happy, I miss bacalaito and pan sobao and all of the other things I grew up with. My mom still makes rice and beans EVERY DAY, but only makes the pigeon pea once in a blue moon or for special days, same for pltanos. I want to go back to the island to visit, for sureIts hard to find plantains that arent expensive where I live and a lot of stuff is hard to find (Pan sobao.

When youre a local checking out new places to eat on the island. I recommend going to these other places (some outside the metropolitan area because the island has so much more to offer): -Sweet Cakes Bakery in Salinas (GREAT sandwiches and sweets)-Pinchos Express in Hatillo (amazing pinchos or kabobs)-Georgetti Heladera in San Juan (great ice cream with a wide and interesting variety)-Doa Mara restaurant in Orocovis (great longaniza or sausage)

Omg i miss all those rich flavors. Their pork is so juicy and garlicky and omg why did i watch this? Living in Az. now everytime a puerto rican restaurant opens it closes down fast. And theyre always so expensive but we dont care. They say its hard getting products so theyre limited and have to charge more to make money. But the food is amazing.

Nothing beats grandmas cooking though but Ive been to some of those places and some I must go to cuz those alcapurrias look so bomb. Im so use to my family making them and then selling them for like a quarter a piece

Loved the video showing are our most try foods. However I would love even more is that they showed these foods from other parts of the island not only sticking to Loza and San Juan especially

Although they showed the best meals you can have when visiting PR, I feel like other cities should be visited for them though. Not just the metropolitan area. Also, add some helado de coco y parcha to the list.

My entire life in this friking island and I had no idea the pia colada and quesitos were endemic from here. EDIT: also the mofongo has lots of garlic in the recipee, not only mashed plantain.
