Thanksgiving Pies Around The US cat v: my family is mixed race (irish/french and filipino/chinese) and my grandparents have not always gotten along but the story goes that when my parents got married, it was around thanksgiving so my mom insisted on having my dads family for holiday and my nana wasnt excited but then my filipino grandma showed up with an apple pie she had learned to make for thanksgiving because she wanted to fit in with the common desserts rather than filipino desserts and since then shes made it every year because it brought everyone together that first thanksgiving

Of course you share. Of course you divide the pie so that everyone gets a piece. At least everyone who wants a piece. I grew up in a large family - we were 8. Everything was divided into 8 pieces. People who didnt like something could use their piece as a bargaining chip and exchange it to something they did like. I dont get the if you are not there in time, you wont get any thinking. :-( Makes me sad.

These american pies are just so different than the ones that we have in Europe (or at least in Finland)You should try finnish mushroom pie (especially Kanttarellipiirakka) It differse from american styled one since it is not this pie pocket. Or, try a traditional finnish blueberry pie That one is truly delicious

They all look delicious I have to admit that even I thought that was a lot of sugar in the sweet potatoes. Reminds me of the super sugary baked yams or sweet potatoes with marshmallows and brown sugar I grew up eating. It would probably taste good with a little less sugar.

I bet none of yall have heard of a mince meat pie recipe with apples and pickles in it. Sounds insane but my great grandma like many others knew what the heck she was doing. It was a spiced, complex, and comforting, mouthful youll never forget.

I have a question about the tea pie: would it work with other loose-leaf teas prepared similarly, or with very specific instructions? Because if I have to make a damned BLOGSPOT account just to document this entire thing as I test it out I will
