Grilled Lemongrass Pork Bnh M As Made By Su Shirley Featherquill: One small, trivial note for anyone that cares: The name of the aunt is written on the sub as Mah Op, which makes. no flipping sense as far as I know it; however, my well-trained ears tell me the aunt actually has (possibly) been called M t. M is the rurally southern word to call ones mum affectionately and t denotes someone whos the youngest child in a line of siblings. But an aunt is different from a mum, so, why would Susans aunt be called as such? My paternal side is from the north and my maternal side is as rurally southern as I can imagine (even though theyve been in Saigon for as far as I can remember. No one in my paternal side calls their aunt with any word also used for their mum, but my maternal relatives do. A close acquaintance of ours is referred to by my cousins as M even though she isnt even related to any of us. I reckon calling ones aunt (or middle-aged close acquaintance) M is a way to show your familiarity and affection to them, its as though you are saying youre accepting them into the family and caring for them like your own family member.

Su seems cool and I hope we see more of her soon. Theres a Vietnamese bakery close by that sells perfect baguettes; lucky me. Sus sandwich looks great, and I agree with her that pickled julienned daikon and carrots, fish sauce, and chicken liver pate is a must. But I like mine with julienned (not chopped) pork and jalapenos, no mayo, chopped cilantro, and sriracha.

How many were wishing they would make homemade bread for Banh mi in this video? Also people please stop saying yeah this is the real thing. Bahn mi refers to the bread not what does in it. You can get several versions of this type of sandwich and they are all the real thing. What makes them different is the bread.

When the title says pork, do you actually mean pig flesh except you dont wanna scare viewers out of watching the video because of how disconnected people are from what theyre actually eating, yes youre eating an individual when you eat pork. Its pig flesh, stop giving it funny names to make it seem less cruel.

Im Vietnamese and Id like to say that this is the closest bnh m ever on Tasty. First, adding pate and mayo isnt a twist, its something every Vietnamese have in bnh m. Second, we dont cut grilled pork into small squares, we cut them into long stripes. However, Im glad Tasty get it right this time

Whenever people get on about _authenticity_ shoo them away with these words: You worry about you and Ill worry about me. Authentic. Westernized. Aerobicized. If it tastes _good_ Im eating it. You missed me with that pate though.

How amazing. Ill always hold fast to my view that food is the great uniter. I love foreign recipes. I love local recipes. I just love food, and it always seems to improve itself the more I learn. Thank you for this.

Darn. As someone who lives in Seattle, Im disappointed your Aunt isnt still up here. Was hoping to try her shop. (PS: No fish sauce in her recipe? gasps. And you can never have enough lemongrass)
