I show you how I made a little fairy house lamp using two coke plastic bottles, cardboard, paint, hot glue and paper clay. This is a great way to teach children about recycling and also stimulate their creativity and imagination. I start by cutting the two plastic bottles and glue them together. I also cut some cardboard pieces to make the shape of the roof. I also made a chimney out of a cardboard piece. After having the basic shape of the house I draw where the door and windows will be. Now it's time to cover the whole thing with paper clay. I used a roller to make thin sheets and use them on the model. I also cut out the windows while the clay is wet. I worked in two layers. One just for covering the basic shape and the other for details like roof tiles, bricks and wooden textures. When working in layers is important that you wet the dry surfaces before adding fresh clay to the old one. This will reactivate the stickiness of the dry paper clay. The roof tiles should be placed starting from the bottom of the roof and working your way up. Let everything dry. For painting I used watercolors and acrylics. The painting process is a simple one for me: basic color followed by shadows and lights. For each element I paint I use the same method. Base color + shadows + lights. In the end you can seal the paint using some matte spray varnish. I placed some battery LED lights under the house. DON'T USE HOT LIGHTS!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the tutorial! It really helps. I liked your Frequently Asked Questions too! You make it look so easy but mostly you make it look like it's possible for anyone to do it. You inspire me. Thank you again!

Very nice! Painting was absolutely beautiful. Great tutorial actually. The shadows technique is a valuable one for me as I was looking for a way to get a bit more effect in my painting.
