Color Theory Part 01 - Overview. SchaeferArt
video description
I work as a professional photographer and I'd like to tell you that what you're doing might be helping more people than you imagine. I was searching around for some good color theory explanations all over the photography websites but it was here that I found some good insights.
We'll, I'd just like to thank you. Keep it up, man.

Firstly, I think your videos are great and I look forward to seeing more in the future. You are a very personable young man with an obvious passion for art. So please keep up the good work.
My only concern with this video on colour theory, is that you advise people not to use green from a tube. I think you said that it's a definite 'no no'. I would have to argue, that to make such a statement is to unfairly dismiss available tube greens, such as, Viridian. This particular green has been in existence since about 1860, used by many renowned artists, and can be wonderfully versatile.
Don't get me wrong. I understand what you're saying, and I agree it's important to learn and practise colour theory whenever possible. But, that doesn't mean one should always stick rigidly to the rules of mixing colour.
Kind regards.

(I am responding on my husbands user name) I am an artist, Pamela McAllister Vandervelde, and I understand there is a huge difference between knowing how to do something and teaching it. You are great at boiling things down to the fundamentals and teaching from behind the eyes of the student. That is a talent in it's own right. Thank you for sharing your time, talent, life with the world to create a more knowledgeably inspired earth.

Brandon your videos are awesome. I just watched the one you did using the glazing liquid. All of a sudden it clicked. I'm a new painter and love to paint but have been disappointed in my work. It didn't seem to have that depth that you talked about. Now I get it. I am going to experiment and practise practise practise. Hopefully I'll be painting as good as you some day. Keep up the great work. You are the best

The hardest part for me, besides finding time, is mixing colors. This helps out a lot! I'm stuck on a scene of ' The Grassy Knoll ' from the Kennedy Assassination (I'm directing a play in November on the subject, and wanted to have something of mine a part of this event, and am having a hard time with shadows on the lawn and steps. So, the more about color theory, the better. Great job! Thank you!

It really hit home when you said, If you don't know the concept behind the painting, then what good is it! Great statement, because I am a newbie and was watching lessons and doing exactly what they were but am unable to recreate my own. This video gives an understanding how important it is to dive in and do it yourself and learn by trial and error. Thank you for that

Your video is very helpful in understanding color. I started painting back in the 80's when instructors only taught you how to complete a painting. They were very good artists; however, they did not teach color mixing. Great to have people like yourself who teacher the basic. Thanks.
