Mixing colors can be very simple with a little bit of practice, so give it a shot! Limit your palette and stick to the primaries, and watch your sense of colors improve Neville: Hi 41Ned here have been watching for a short time as a beginner in the Art and Tube videoing I find it very interesting that you are trying (successfully by the looks of it) to take beginner and others through the steps of using Acrylic/Oils (as Painting with one helps paint with the other) and I find the topic of mixing colours is a ongoing lesson for any one, as you learn with every time one mixes paint one find different variation of colours. could you contact me would like to find out mor

Love all the videos Brandon. It has been years since I painted and I am just starting out again so thank you for both the refresher and the new info. As for mixing. If I wanted a sunset background would you use red, an orange you premixed, and yellow or would you just use red and yellow and let them mix to make the orange on the canvas?

The blue is Ultramarine. What are the red and yellow? I tried mixing many types of RYB and the results are hugely different depending what kind of RYB you start with. For example Ultramarine is very transparent while Phthalo is very opaque and dominant.
Any tips how to do the color mixing study correctly?
Cheers and thanks

It's so refreshing that you have the will to teach so many aspects of art. Most You Tube artists will show a sample and then you have to buy the dvd. I'm sure that I speak for many when I say that I appreciate the videos you make with techniques and such and thank you for providing these lessons for free. :)
