A Real Time Oil Painting Lesson with some commentary from me. First part shows me mixing the colors I'm going to use and then I jump into the painting and get it done in about an hour. Any questions, post 'em below! More Lesson Videos: This lesson explains many concepts of painting, color-mixing, values, color harmony, composition and much more. It also deals with still lifes, reflective objects and painting fruits

Hi Brandon-I'm working on a still life of apples and pears with a small lamp to one side. there is a lot of reflection on the apple which is coming off the pear and I'm not sure how to capture it. the apple is in shadow at the point of this reflection so it is a dark value yet glowing from the pear. please help if you can. I appreciated the way you captured the reflection of the tablecloth in the pitcher so nicely: )

Damn your orange mixture (that at the very beginning of it) is very. not intense, I love it! Whenever I try to mix my yellow and red, I either overshoot with red, or get a very neon bright orange and I have to tone it down. It might be my acrylic, or is it just oils are better that way? Great vid, that's exactly what I wanted (and still want) to see when I have trouble painting: ) Looking at a professional doing it.

Brandon, your life painting lesson is great, thank you for sharing. What I did not get is how do you go about with the colours on the top right hand side of your palette. I think it would be useful also to glance at the still life itself from time to time. Truly yours, Georgina

There is alot of good information in this post. Thank you for taking the time to make this! Aside from Gamsol, did you use anything else to lower the viscosity of your paint? You may have said this but I didn't catch it.

Very nice but I think too much foreground and too much abstraction in the tablecloth. I think this distracts from the objects you are trying to highlight.
It-s more about the tablecloth than the objects.

Hi,
I liked your painting style. I just want to know how many basic colour you need to make ready before you start landscape painting? Please reply. Thank you

Hi, can you talk about your panel holder? I can't tell if it is part of your easel or a separate object. I tried making a holder and wasn't happy with it.

Work on the surety of your strokes. you are so tentative. you aren't using the brush. just the bristle tips. So painful to watch. even at double speed.

I like this style but I nitpick too much and can't go without smoothing every little thing. You're doing so good and have come a long way sweetie. Xo
